Tempting. I had so much fun in this game I think more fun than I have ever had in any other MMO. I just don't know if I have the time for it anymore! My life was boring when I started playing it now everything is abit more hectic.
Just wanted to stop in and tell everyone how things are going so far. The linkshell is up and running with many members that are online on a regular basis. Most of us are really making an effort to move develop characters and have been having a lot of fun with great exp parties and experiencing some of the basic content. Its still fun after all these years.
Due to recent events the servers and now the game itself is in a state of flux. SE has decided to help the recovery effort from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan by shutting down the servers for both FFXI and FFXIV for about a week. Also, their was a server merge scheduled for Titan to be merged with Phoenix on March 16th, which has been cancelled until the next major update. The servers are currently unavailable and when they are functional, no new characters can be made for the time being.
All is not lost! We do have a ventrilo channel thanks to one of our members and forums thanks to our fearless leader Raystantz (Azmyth) that can be accessed here: Reformation.
Until then we are going to be hanging around and playing other games, chatting and trying out other stuff. Speaking for myself as well as the LS, we are going to stay hopeful that the situation in Japan improves and that the nation will recover from this disaster as a whole. Somme of us are donating to relief funds in respect for the free month that SE is giving us for lost time on the game. I would rather see that 15 bucks go to food, water and shelter for some of the families struggling overseas.
What I would recommend is visit the forums and get to know some of us in the meantime. The LS really turned out to be a great group of players who enjoy the game and helping each other out. When the servers are back up and running, the merge is finally complete then we are going to be able to take on some new members willing to join us in our ragtag adventures in Vanadiel.

Just want to take a moment to let anyone who has been wanting to join up with us or who may not have understood whats going on.
Right now we are all patiently awaiting the servers to be turned back on, due to the tragedies over in Japan. Tomorrow is the day. However, with the next version update there is supposed to a server merge, that would merge us into Phoenix.
We are currently on Titan. I believe, you cannot create characters on Titan right now, and won't be able to until this merger happens. Now, for those wanting to join us.. this could cause some issues. So you have a few options..
1. Roll on Phoenix, and once the servers merge we'll all be together.. however this would cause you to not have the cool factor of getting to do stuff with us right off the bat.
2. Come join us over at our forums www.reformationlinkshell.tk and just hang out and get to know everybody while you wait. Everyone is nice and friendly. You won't find a better group of people in ANY game.
We just want to let everyone know that we are still recruiting, and what to expect. Thanks!

I came across this post and mentioned it to my girlfriend and it seems that we're going to be making the switch back over to XI. We are long time mmo vets (she actually started on XI and I was on DAOC) and it has gotten to the point right now where the games out have just lost their appeal. She still plays WoW and enjoys it but that 6 year ship has sailed for me. While I do look forward to getting my hands on TERA and GW2, I need a place to call home for the time being.
That said, we were thinking of coming back around and starting fresh on a new server from the ground up and given the nature of this thread, if you all havent jumped too far ahead we would love to hop aboard and rock it like its.... 2001? heh.
Anyway, if you could give another status update on whether the LS is accepting new people and if you all are still actively playing, that'd be great!

man. this is my first post on mmorpg.com, but i've been lurking for a loooong time. this is just the first post i've been interested enough in to reply to. i've been in and out of mmos for a while now, and really hoping to stay subscribed to ffxi for more than a month again. i played way back at release, and then left the game. my linkshell was dissolved before i came back, and i just haven't been able to find a good enough community of players since. i've resubscribed at least four times and just haven't really stayed.
i'm hoping to join the ls as soon as the server is back open to new characters. i'm really looking forward to it.

Seems decent, i've seen other players running through the cities and zones, but not a huge amount of low level players. I remember seeing tons of camps taken in V. Dunes, and none when I logged on yesterday, but they did just turn the servers back on after a week off. I did however run out of lizards by the K. Mountains zone line... 2 other people killed all the mobs (Damn, Beastmasters).
I am loving the experience so far, and can't wait til I actually join the Linkshell and talk to others in it online. I'm too much of a noob right now to even figure out the search for players/linkshell feature lol...

Thats also pending on what time of the day you play ive noticed there isnt alot of North Americans on the servers compared to the European and Japanese players. When i played last i cooked. i made alot of gil since there were alot of damage dealers in the game. If your blacksmithing i would npc weapons back to weapon dealers you get a good exchange. I would put some up to the lower level crowd. I know when i was leveling jobs i had a hard time finding gear and weapons. You can try ffxiah to see how many people are registerd users. its also a a good place to look to see whats hot whats not and if your items sold. You probably already know this but just in case

Update! It seems the date of the patch has been announced for May 10th.. so now we have a time frame for being able to get all you new guys in the shell. I have been sort of absent as of late.. but I'm back and ready to rock n roll!

this is true, but our linkshell doesn't play that way. We progress just like the olden days. I only leveled in the dunes, for the level you would have then.. Sometimes its cool to be able to do that when there are no other options for groups.. but never had that issue so far.

this is true, but our linkshell doesn't play that way. We progress just like the olden days. I only leveled in the dunes, for the level you would have then.. Sometimes its cool to be able to do that when there are no other options for groups.. but never had that issue so far.
I was in your linkshell. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the people in that linkshell. But I just got sick of constantly doing either Valkurm or Qufim Island.
Again though, great group of people to be in a linkshell with, no drama, or chest beating, truly a class act in the world of MMOs.

early 30s as i recall. after doing monk, then warrior, then ranger, then knowing I had one more trip through all those areas for the class I wanted, I just kinda burned out.
