Well, after searching around and playing just about every mmorpg I could find, in the hopes of finding something different enough to keep my interest, I've just about given up entirely. I've come to the conclusion that it's time to play something a bit less "massive", since it seems that single player rpgs tend to have much more interesting gameplay. The thing is, I have a friend that I usually always game with and I'd like to find something with the option to play online co-op.
I'm planning on getting oblivion (and maybe even morrowind) since they look really fun, but I understand that they don't have any online capabilities. That said, is there anything else out for PC that is even remotely similar but also allows for online co-op? Heck, I'd even settle for something action-rpg-ish like diablo 2. I've spent the last 10 or so years playing mmorpgs almost exclusively, so I'm really out of the loop in terms of regular PC rpgs and which ones are worth playing.
Thanks in advance for any info

unfortunately not every great RPG of late has been exclusivly single player such as DA, DA2, ME, ME2, Withcer, Divinity 2
I really hope the future RPG's aim to have some form of co-op available to the max size of the party I would haveloved to have played through DA with a mate or 3
Darkspore is coming out soon.
There is always Neverwinter Nights 2. It's co-op with tons of player made content to mess around with after you have gone through the official campaign and the expansions.
Guild Wars? Oh and Dungeon Siege 3 is coming out soon, next week I think?
Don't think it really counts as an RPG, but there's also Magicka, which is pretty damn fun, and also quite cheap at $10.
You do need to patch a lot to get rid of the bugs though.
Thanks for the suggestions guys . I actually just re-installed Guild Wars a little while ago, but I never got around to really playing it. I'll definitely give it a go.
I'd be fine with giving NWN a shot, but my friend's not too big on the D&D ruleset, so he probably wouldn't be interested. I'll probably try it out myself though, regardless.
I guess if all else fails, I might just give online gaming a break entirely, and finally get Oblivion .
Thanks again for the responses!
Darkspore.

I'm also burnt out on most of them and am back to playing the original NWN on the Higher Ground servers. They are truly amazing what they did with the game. I highly recommend checking it out. You can pick up the diamond edition of NWN on Good old Games and then just do a search for the higher ground wiki and it will walk you through everything else.
Check out the wiki to see the amazing changes they've made or read reviews about it.
Two worlds 2 has multiplayer i think, no idea if it's any good.
WoW is a CO-OP RPG now.
Just sayin'.
Got a Game Idea? Look Here!
It seems that "Hunted: The Demon's Forge" isn't a full RPG but has certain RPG feature's and is co-op.
Perhaps something to take a look at, it's not released yet.

The First Templar will be released next month.
Dungeon Siege 3 is coming this year.
Sacred, Diablo, Titan Quest, Loki and all other Diablo clones have co-op multiplayer.
Older Bioware RPG's have co-op. Games like Baldur's Gate.

I had a blast playing Baldur's gate in Co-op. I think Pool of Randiance has it also.
Depends if you want "role play" then Never Winter Nights is still the king ( and still will be even long after Cryptics bastardisation of it is released)
If you just want a co-op game with some RPG elements then actually Dawn of War 2 is a lot of fun that way.
Dungeons siege 3 (Except its being made by obsidian so will be a buggy mess of a trainwreck that will ruin yet another series)
People dont make multplayer rpgs much anymore because everyone is still on the mmo bandwagon, I cant wait for the bubble to finally burst on that one.
Man, that looks like exactly what I was looking for! It looks like a 3rd person Oblivion with online support. The gamespot review of the game seemed a bit harsh, with only a score of 7.5, but I usually take their reviews with a grain of salt...
I'm just really surprised I haven't heard more about this game, or even the first one for that matter. Anyone happen to know how either of them stand against the likes of Oblivion? Is the first one worth playing as well?
Thanks a ton for the info Wolfenpride
I get the idea Two Worlds is often regarded as an attempt at making something similar to Oblivion.
Yeah, I was looking into DS3; I'll definitely keep my eyes open down the road. I was even thinking of possibly giving the second one a whirl, but I'm not sure if online play is still possible on it.
Out of the games you mentioned, Titan quest really stuck out for me, so I'm downloading the steam demo to try it out.
Thanks for the info
Borderlands is a terrific Co-op game if you like the change of pace of shooting things up instead of hack and slash.

definetly looks fun for cooping
Yeah, I can imagine that, although I don't usually look at imitation is a completely bad thing, as long as it's done well enough. In the case, I'm mainly only interested in Two Worlds over Oblivion simply because of the online component. Regardless, I'll probably end up playing them both eventually. Oblivion is going pretty cheap these days.
I did play the first Two worlds, biggest issue was it was buggy beyond belief. It's fixed up now in the epic edition i think it's called, and maybe worth a shot to anyone who really has an interest in it, but it is old. And combat isn't as exciting as it could've been. I will say the game had an enormous world.
Two worlds 2 isn't really considered a AAA game, but it seems like they did a vastly better job with it than the first one, and it sounds like a lot of people do enjoy it. I intend to buy it, maybe when I get my next paycheck.
I think it's only available on Steam by the way, for some reason hard copies were never sold in the U.S.
hey how about titan quest? it's a nice game with co-op features too.
Most "MMOs" are single player games with a lil coop nowadays. I'd suggest trying LotRO or WoW if you want a coop RPG.
Well, I've played both and I was honestly bored to tears with each of them. I'm looking for something a little less linear and definitely something with a real-time combat system. I can't stand the auto-target/button mashing clones anymore. Hence why my mmo selection is unfortunately very limited.
At this point, after getting a good idea of what's available right now, the only games that really look interesting to me are Two Worlds, Two Worlds II, Morrowind and Oblivion (only solo play though), Neverwinter Nights (1 and 2), Titans Quest, and Baulder's Gate 2. Out of those, only the first 4 have the real-time combat system, and only the first two offer an online co-op mode. The pickin's are pretty thin
