Load times are hella fast. Its a great game for no monthly fee. Anyone that says "dont buy it" doesnt care about you. I bought it and its a great game to play when your pissed off at other games and bored of Counter Strike. But its not just a stand by game. Its a great game all around! If you cant afford a montly fee I cant recommend it highly enough. If montly fee is not a problem get it anyway, its a wonderful diversion
Originally posted by PeterPain Well, i must admit i find the game a bit boring after the first few hours, but i haven't tried the PvP part yet. For me the worst part is the babilon tower the towns are, I'm Spanish, and speak English and a bit of French, but when I enter a town, i'm overwelmed with messages for people in different languaes all mixed. I wish they could 'filter' towns instances based on language or something.
they are planning to add different language zones in the next (free) update:
from guildwars.com Here are some of the changes we're working on for next week's update:
* For players on the European servers, there will be different districts for each supported language: English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Players will be placed by default into the district that matches their current language preference, but they will still be able to travel to any available district.

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...

uh huh..... it sucks so bad that 250,000 to 300,000 other people bought it. I wonder what the numbers would be if people actually liked the game..... sheesh......
Yeh, it sucks so bad that in April it was top-selling game in USA.
I work at Gamestop and I've heard from all our stores in the area that this game is probably #1 right now for PC sales. It's getting a lot of supporters, however I hear 1 out of every 2 people that buy it hate it. Most people are purchasing this game because of the lack of paying per month. You gotta make ur own opinion about this game. For some people it's the best ever mmorpg, for others it's their least favorite.
Honestly don't tell people NOT to pick it up. 50$ isn't a waste of money for this. If I had to pay per month for it i would have never picked it up and i'm sure a lot of others wouldn't have. I think if more people I know and enjoy playing mmorpg's with, join guild wars I'd be happier with the game. I can't stand partying up with random people anymore, I don't know how they play or weather they are going to leave half way through doing something.
For what I have read, Id say Diablo lovers will like this game a lot, It sounds to me that its a Diablo kind of game with beautifull graphics and more massive than diablo, or am I wrong?
I usually don't bad mouth any games but I have to with GW. I did pre-order GW and played all their weekend beta events. I also joined a great guild and did like the people in the guild. I have to agree with many of the posters that GW is very boring. I ended up not even picking up the retail version. I don't care if they gave me money to play GW I wouldn't play the game. I thought I would like GW being a big Diablo 1 & 2 fan but I didn't. I quit WoW to play GW's beta weekend events and have to say WoW is 100% more fun IMO. The only problem I had with WoW is the end game got boring for me but I think eventually they will add enough content.
I bought the Collectors edition of the game after looking for something play after I gave up on Star Wars Galaxies.
I've played for a few weeks now, and can't say I'm blown away. Pretty much you talk to a 'toon, they send you on a "fetch mission" and then you get experience after killing a few monsters.
In Guild Wars, you start out with a cruddy magic wand, sword, bow, or other weapon. You kill easy monsters and get better magic wands, swords, bows, and weapons to kill stronger monsters. After you throw fire or whatever to kill the monster they drop loot such as a cruddy weapon, armor, or a bag of gold. You scoup those up and sell for other loot. This can go on and on...
All the 'toons look the same. Even if you do get dye to change the coloring of clothing, all 'toons look, walk, dance, and throw magic the same. Crafting is boring as you get kits to change various loot to bolts of linen, iron, or other building block thet you take to a 'toon that crafts the items for you.
I kinda like the henchmen you can hire for missions becase a human group always seems to lose members as the missions evolve, but after a few weeks of playing I keep asking "what's next?".
Seems all I do is hire henchmen, wander around in a "S pattern" looking for groups of three or four red dots to kill for a bit of gold. Then, every now and then, these scorpian type monsters come out from under the sand that I kill too.
What else is there folks? Am I missing it? I'm a level 11 Elementist/Ranger and a couple of other characters, but as I said-- I'm not blown away at all...
Originally posted by Marund Dont buy it.. it really sux.. 1. Its not an MMORPG... its an ORPG 2. You will hardly ever group until high lvls..... because its all instanced 3. Its boring 4. WoW and many other MMO's are better.. EVEN EQ2 5. Its boring 6. LOADS of bugs... so many that your eyes will fall out of the sockets and youll want to stomp on em from fustration 7. Did I mention its boring? Conclusion: Dont buy it.. I made the mistake.. noone else should.
^ TROLL!!!!!
Look its not an mmo its a mco, massive coop online. In cities you can group or team up. But once you leave the city.. its just your group..... so thus this fixes some of the biggest issues with MMo's...
No kill stealing, no loot camping, no boss camping, no quest camping, no lines, no bs
I love being able to group up with a few friends and go out questing and following a very thick storyline that is there from the get go.... if you keep at it you will find a lot of interesting things to do.

That's pretty much it
But it's still fun to play with other ppl in missions and such ^^
i've noticed most of the people who don't like GW have either not played it properly, or don't even have a reason for not liking it.
some people even say 'where is the grind? i want to grind'
GW has no grind. you do the missions and follow the story and you gain XP with no need to simply grind by killing monsters.
there's not as much variety of armour appearances, but there are still a few. about 6 different armour appearances for each class.
warrior for example. ringmail, type 1 (leather looking) type 2 (metal look) ascalon (furry) gladiator, wyvern, about 3 different platemails, dwarven armour.
and dozens of colours for dye. if you really want to you can look different from everyone else. i know i do. i am purple and green ringmail for gods sake.

for those who never played it , simply dont count ..
for those who are playing and find it boring .. i just have to say ..
try make freinds , its not true that you cant join partys with lo level , only wow players do that.
many hi levels have help me to go to unknow zones and finishing missions ...
im starting to help lo levels my selfe .. i think this is what makes thet game " human "
when you play just for the story line or a better weopon ... just feels like a normal single player game ... stupid and boring ... so ...
