So after logging into EQ2's roleplaying server and being bombarded by leetspeak and unable to find a group for well over two hours, I decided I'd had enough and it's time to look for a true, back to roleplaying roleplaying game.
And what should I find?
Nice...very nice. But blimey, I've heard NOTHING about this game, nor does the website even give much detail.
I'd be interested in what's going on with this project with more than the usual "We're the next new innovative game with bells, whistles, whooshy noises and scanty leather armour!" Some storyline, some more about the world, and some more PR would be a really good idea!
Cheers

Hold tight. I'm sure more information should be coming in the next month. SIMU-Melissa (I think it was her...), one of the leaders in the project alluded to quite a bit of Lore being released soon, but not for a few weeks.
Rest assured, it's coming... and it will kick ass.

(Also check back every Tuesday with MMORPG.COM for exclusive screens)
Of course it's going to kick ass. I can't name a Simutronics game that didn't kick ass, and like Blizzard, I doubt they are going to want to change that.
When was the last time you took your medication. Just wondering...
Well, Simutronics is STILL here, isn't it?
You sire, are certainly free to start an MMO company. Shame them....

I believe it was two years ago at Simutronics annual convention (Simucon) that their founder "David" announced "you will be playing the game this year". I'm just waiting for the "Heros Journey has been put on hold indefinitely" announcement.

Dude... Have you read what Simutronics is going to pull off? It's ambitious! It's innovative! It's about time!! I could wait another year or maybe even two, if need be. I want it right more than I want it right now.
Like many projects, if it takes too long, it may end up as vaporware, but I have faith that the folks at Simutronics know what they are doing. Your concerns mirrored my concerns until I saw the recent round of updates. Here's a link to help lay your fears to rest: http://www.corpnews.com/node/36
Look uner the heading: The Good. <<Beware - there is a fair amount of cursing used by this gamer-centric web reporting staff. Put your Big Kid Pants on.>>
True, our first HJ effort was shelved. It was pretty cool, but not cool enough. All other issues aside, I've always said I'd do a graphical MMORPG when the technology was there to pull off what was in my head. I think the consumer and server technology is there to do what has consumed me for all these years.
But also, I needed to go back to my roots. What makes our games work is our tool set that we empower GameMasters with. We mastered that with text games, but doing anything similar in graphics is a very, very difficult process.
A funny thing happened during our E3 demo: While running a demo, a employee of one of our established competitors, dropped in and just stood over our shoulders watching. By this point I was doing the side demo of the toolset (called HeroBlade) for some folks. His mouth was agap... and all he keep saying was "Whoa.... wow.... " and finally he said "I wish I had tools like that!" and walked out. Not sure if he was pissed or heading back to see if he could find where to apply for a job on our web site.
Will this version of HJ make the shelves? I'm absolutely determined and convinced that it will. We've put our heart and soul into this, and given the reaction at E3, I think it shows.

hehe... are you one of those guys who plays nonstop when you dive into a new MMORPG? No coming up for air? Hard to every have enough content for those types... but at least we have a smooth way of continually creating new stuff and streaming it to you. In fact, at E3 one of our demo machines died the very first day.... so we ran to Circuit City and the guys there (pumped that we were even at E3) dropped everything and built us a custom rig to our specifications. When we got it back, we dropped our game launcher app in a folder, ran it and it brought down the Hero's Journey game. And when that started, it streamed down everything it needed from our repository on demand. That was the install.

BTW, could you tell us the PC's specs?
I recently stumbled upon this game, admittedly by mistake, and have to say I am captivated. Finding very little 'end game' content with WoW (ie: random world drop farming and the over farming of the same high level instances time and time again) I have become bored and was searching the MMORPG horizon for new blood.
Having watched the E3 video I was more than slightly impressed. What is being attempted is very ambitious and IF it can be pulled off at release you will be a force to be reckoned with. The use of in-game GMs dates back to my UO days; as dated as the technique is, it can breathe life into a game that may other wise become boring. Non-scripted events are the stuff of legend and add so much depth to what might otherwise be a tedious adventure, etc. Why more and more MMOPRGS on the market not use this technique is beyond me, perhaps they are relying on quests and instances to give their games 'staying power' however with the typical player of this genre that is not a solution. We need new content, new ways to think, and new ways to solve issues.
I have to admit, like others here as well, is that I am concerned about this game making it to market. I want this game to appear on shelves...not only because of what you are trying to make possible but because if done as advertised this WILL be the game to play. I look forward to more info about HJ. It's a jewel in the rough with all the potential in the world.
Retail box! Woohoo! Simu is going to the big tent now!
Please just make sure you guys get the big contracts so that the game is released to a LOT of different stores. I currently play Lineage 2, which may have been on most shelves at one point or another but 1 year after release is near impossible to find anywhere.
Also, I LOVE how in to touch with the community Simutronics is and always has been. Like they say a lot of their staff are former/current players of MUDS/MMO's.
Not exactly true, although it is much more true than in other MMO's. There are players who have reached the end limit of skills, even players who were not allowed to advance past level 100. However, I can safely say if you started playing DR or GSIV today you would NEVER get through all the content.
