Gaming can make a better world

fanlynnefanlynne Member Posts: 3

Gaming can make a better world, specifically, World of Warcraft players are learning management (for gamers, raid/guild leaders), the value of money and investment (gold and auction house) the value of earning (leveling, equipment, points).

Real games are far more engaging for most people. But relative to normal study, entertainment is pretty superior. While games can build skills, entertainment can build skills more directly. Incentivize the use of entertainment by providing accreditation with their completion. You achieve the learning, you do so in a way that's more engaging, and you get a trackable and recognizable achievement.Imagine then if many more achievements and tasks were like this in our real world. To achieve this, we may need a something like a popular world wide site for the purpose of tracking a combination of traditional 'reality' and less traditional 'virtual' (or in this case, edutainment based) achievements.

There is a speaker from ted talks that makes a similar case.

Jane McGonigal talks about the online world and how it could relate to the real world: http: http://www.hulu.com/watch/219284/tedtalks-jane-mcgonigal-gaming-can-make-a-better-world

if you want to help make a better world, help a REAL person.

    live long and prosper
    strength and honor

    if urgent do it yourself
    if you have time-delegate it
if you have forever-form a committee

Eve pwns wow in real life experience!!

Edit : you learn about market trends, proper spreadsheeting, profit management, stable money reserves and not  going below a certain amount of money, not buying things you cant afford (yay you spent 200mil on a ship! then you get suicide ganked = investing 200 million on  a business that fails without any backup plans)

Umm...It teaches you to not go into dangerous place ( you wouldnt wanna go into afghanistan cuz youll get podded)

    Umm what else..
