NO offence, but why include all those browser based MMORPG's on this site? It's not like we vets are playing any of them on a regular basis...
And how do you know this? Have you spoken to every person who plays MMOs and asked them what they play? Because unless you have, that's a silly comment to make. I happen to play browser-based games regularly. They're a great way to have a bit of fun on a lunch break without getting drawn into a major raid or gaming session you don't have the time to finish. And further, a browser-based MMO is still an MMO, and this is a site about MMOs so...that should be all the answer to your question you need.
As for this, Drakensang was one of the more underrated RPGs. If it had come out before or after some of the other games that released alongside it, I think it would have done better. Signed up. Glad it was posted about, I wouldn't have known about it otherwise.

They're included because they're MMOs, and we're an MMO website. It's generally understood that not all MMO players, especially the "vets", are too interested in browser based, but many players do partake. We appreciate you vets, but the website isn't just for you. The casual players who like the browser games come here too. No offence taken, by the way.
Browser is another entry into future gaming. Browser games are getting crazy insane good.
Thats what it seems to me anyways.

@gaeanprayer- Nah, I haven't asked all or any player. Just drawing conclusions on this site. Most browser based MMORPG's don't even have their own forum, and those that do (FreeRealms comes to mind) you hadrly see any posting in...
I agree...like it or not browser based MMOs are here to stay and will in fact see increased usage as time goes on. They are cheaper to produce, easier to mantain, and with the growing number of wifi and wireless tablets, phones and devices, they can be accessed by a greater number of people at varying times. Got an iPad or Android tablet and an hour for lunch..I am sure you will be able to play them on those soon if not already.
No offense, but I have been playin MMOs since EQ1 first came out and even before that, and everytime someone has called themselves a "vet" they usually mean "elitist".
BTW great find there Drew, Drakensang was actually a very cool game and I plan on checking this out as well.
Browser Based?

I like to know what is so bad about browser based MMO ?.
I have seen screenshots and trailers and the graphics looks nice, much better than most non-browser based.
not so keen on Browser Based...
but Drakensang is AWESOME. great single player RPG's so I have high hopes for this.
Have you guys seen the newest browser games? Watch the videos for this one, how can you not be impressed by that in a browser?
Combine that with Onlive.com technhology goin on and as mentioned cell phones and ipads and all that stuff man, its a new video game world already just by how huge the communitys gotten.

Interesting, I did like the setting of the singleplayers.
Although the combat resembled a slowmo version of NWN, it took longer for my character to kill one rat than it would take my granny to knit me a sweater.
This seems different for the MMO though.

This has absultely nothing to do with the original Drakensang RPG's produced by Radon Labs . Most important: Bigpoint doesn't have a license to use the TDE -ruleset on which both original and sequel by RL were based . This is going to be a hack 'n slash browser game without any RPG component whatsoever . Folks who enjoyed the Radon Labs originals better check out the games produced by the TDE license owners Chromatrix GmbH who refused to grant the license to Bigpoint on the basis they expected - rightfully- bigpoint wouldn't do the whole Aventuria universe justice .
license holders of the TDE-ruleset are here :
http://www.wiki-aventurica.de/index.php/Offiziell/Lizenzinhaber
Chromatrix GmbH produces browser games which do use the TDE ruleset themselves .
Drakensang online has about a much to do with the RL titles as Neverwinter by Cryptic will have to do with the original single player RPG's , i.e.: nothing at all.
It's all about making quick $$$ for these companies ( in defense of Atari though : they do have a license for D&D ) by using the name .

I think i looks damn amazing! :-o

So as mentioned above it looks nothing like the single player RPG's. In fact it looks like a D2 clone.
Too bad someone couldn't make a true MMORPG with the spirit and looks of the single player games.
The single player Drakensang games were amazing and this is good news to me; I'd love to have a multiplayer experience in the same realm.
As far as the complaints about browser based, I guess it all really depends on how they do it. If it's inside your browser window, sure it could be bad, but a lot of browser games now are just launched from the browser and then run on a regualr game engine anyway, or so it seems.

There is no such thing as a "free game ". Even so called F2P titles have cash-shops which pretty much require you to buy stuff to progress . I guarantee you this game won't be different .Folks believing in free stuff are naive .

Those games were so good because they utilized the TDE -ruleset and were produced in cooperation with the licensor of TDE ( compare it to Neverwinter nights or Baldur's gate being based on D&D). That isn't the case with this game because Bigpoint doesn't have the right to use TDE.

I thought the graphics looked really good. Then I read it's a browser game? Nice.
Well said. I too like the idea of browser based games. I play and enjoy both types. I haven't gotten onto the beta for this game yet but it looks fun.
