You are the first to see this box art before we distribute it broadly, a token of our thanks to you all for your enthusiasm and support of TERA and En Masse Entertainment. This image of a castanic warrior flanked by her party members as they prepare for battle will represent TERA when the game appears on physical and virtual shelves.

Blah, seems very generic.. Oh well! Its not the box art that'll sell this bad boy anyways
so that's what's been keeping them so busy NOT releasing this game in NA.....they needed a box first. that makes sense :P
seriously wtf is taking so damn long?
Aint this game like almost done in korea?
Feels like they could translate the game so much faster.
(example auto translate everything then let 2-3 poeple go trough the auto translation and correct errors)
Well i might worng and that cant be done that way......
Auto-translate generally leads to fail...

Oh look, tits.
If this game would just release I could find peace....

Question, why does it have to be a very scantly clad woman on the cover for every Asian MMO? All this says to me is, "Our game is not good enough for the market so we've decided to use sex to sell this." It doesn't speak well for the game, but then again half of america doesn't think with the right head, so I may be one in few that doesn't fall for that sort of marketing ploy.
If it were a musclebound Conan type, you could say they're just trying to use machismo to sell the game, as has been the unquestioned norm for a long time. Is it really all that different? They're just using fantasy ideals to sell a fantasy game.
I don't know if its sex that sells, so much as just a response to the trend of more people leaning towards playing idealized female characters than there used to be.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
Am I the only person that saw the lightning on the swords first?

LOL its not the box making that keep them busy... they probably wait to implement the political system and make it work well before releasing it in NA. And to me it makes sense.. who want a game with a broken end game?! Some games did that mistake before *cough* Warhammer *cough* I am kinda happy that it is released in Korea before so they can fix the biggest isssues without us to suffer from it. But i am also exited to play this game.
No, but I'm sure I'm the only one who noticed the pretty cool architecture of the background city first.
Then, oh look, another uninspiring, unimaginative scantily-clad demon-chick.
It's released in Korea.
The reason they don't just auto-translate and correct manually is that they do more than translate. They take the content (dialog, quests, skill names, etc.) and "westernize" them, trying to make things more culturally relevant to the western player.
That said, they need to hurry up, I'm interested in an action MMO with anime themings.
Another big-breasted female character wielding a weapon as box art. . .not that's original.
sorry to disappoint you but those are regular size breasts....... so thats kind of original if you ask me because the rest of the games make huge breasted gals for box art
why are people saying she's scantily clad? It sure a good thing they don't some of her neck too, that would be taking it waaay to far. And yeah, the female form haters really need to have an alternate box to choose from, with some hulking stud flashing a bicep. And maybe for all the people that feel exploited by the obviously sexually explicit nature of this game cover, they could come up with a third cover that is a fat hairy couch potato that can not be positively identified as either male or female.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
ummm.....Where is this big breasted scantily clad woman that everyone is talking about?....I'm confused.
lol. . .yea. . .in boobville.
Amen, dude
A few NA examples:
What you said was just plain ignorant, this is not a new marketing gimmick and certainly not an isolated practice in any one particular market. If you look beyond MMOs into other genres, you'll see plenty of box art that's basically using the same gimmick. Also, it's not whether or not it sells -- it's whether or not it grabbed your attention, and clearly since you bothered to post about it, it grabbed yours.
the 1st thing i pay attention to was the city behind all the 3 characters, lol, i must say that the Cities of Tera is probably what amusing for me so far
So What Now?
I wonder if I'll be alive for the day when a frumpy, asexual female is used on any kind of promotional advertisement.
Where is this sudden holier-than-thou attitude coming from? Or is it double standards?
