Just bought Rift
I figure this is the best recieved mmo launch I've seen in five years, I really want a new MMO (FFXIV is not doing it for me), so this seems like the opportune time to hop into this game. I will bite the bullet if I don't like it, if I do like it I'll be happy I purchased it. Anyways, I just wanted to thank everyone for your assistance and advice in whether I should buy it or not, and because I recieved more positive feedback than negative I went and bought it, even the customers at gamestop were telling me to buy it, as well as the guy behind the counter. Not to mention I was buying their last copy of rift because they had sold so fast. Anyways, I'm feeling confident that it's a good purchase at the moment, but only time will tell.

I was hesitent at first as well, having played it in Beta and never really got too into it. Bought it completely on a whim while in Best Buy and i was very pleasantly suprised with how much i love this game so far. Its hooked me more than any MMO ive played in quite some time.

I keep getting tempted but have not. . I found that during the beta it just didn't have "enough" if I had not played so many other MMOs I would have played it for sure. . or when I had more time. Either way. . if you like it or not you should post here and let us know

Well I am having a problem logging in, I type in the correct email and password and it comes up with some message saying to check my email and password...but they're right, I've checked like 5 times. Any advice?

Yeah I'm very concerned now... what is going on? Hahaha.
EDIT* I just called them and they said it's an error with the system that your account does not register right after putting your game code and that you have to wait 20-30 minutes to log in succesfully. If that doesn't work I should call Trion Worlds during their weekday hours to get customer support.... well that's a pain.
Ouch, sorry to hear that man. Trion's customer support so far has been top notch, so im sure theyll get it resolved...just really hope you dont have to wait until Monday

Ouch, sorry to hear that you are having problems logging in for the first time. I just bought Rift and I had no problems at all with my retail box. It was working within a couple seconds after having registered and everything.
What is the exact error message you're getting when you try to log in?
This might be a dumb question, but did you associate the product key with your account? You can create an account without associating it to any key, but of course you can't log in then.

You know its weird the same thing happened to me last night for like 20mins.. I eventually just gave up, grabbed some food, then came back and it worked lol.. And i know i wasn't coin locked cuz i checked my email afterwords and had nothing from Trion.. Hopefully it dosn't happen to me this morning, as im bout to log in a sec and i've got a itchy trigger finger for warfronts.

This same thing happened to my wife. So double check that you actually added the game to the account and that it went through. Our internet seemed to crap out for some reason when we would hit the add game key button, and it took a few tries to get it on the account.

Apparently I had somehow subscribed the authenticator too my phone? So I had to get my phone and download the ap, and it works strangely when I enter the authenticator code from my phone...even though I didn't have the ap downloaded in the first place... Anyways, I can only play the game when I have my phone..

Well before I got my Evo 4g by HTC for Sprint Mobile, giving you the cheapest plans for great service, I had a crappy flip phone and I lost it quite often...like every day. I have yet to lose this one, probably because the Evo 4g lets me do everything I need on my phone, including watching movies, getting on facebook, and letting me even access MMORPG.com to respond to thread responses!
I'd be pretty angry if they added me the authenticator thing without asking me.. As i don't have a smart phone and no way to download a app like that lol..

It is true that only time will tell. I've enjoyed the first month and don't feel any qualms about the 3 month founder pricing I signed up for. Others' mileage may vary of course, but I've been very happy with it so far. I'm nearing the level cap and I'm not much for raiding, so I'm hoping (gambling, more like it) that they'll add some sort of end game PvP that isn't Arenas.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
I like the authenticator. I don't know how you subbed to it without the authenticator itself installed on your phone because it gives you an installation code that you have to put into your account for it to activate the authenticator for your account.
Well, theres something strange right there.
You have to first download the app, then it will give you a setup code that you have to add to the account and only then the authenticator would be on your account.
Theres no way you could have had an authenticator added before you downloaded it because this setup code is tottally randomly generated when you install the app and not before.
The question here is, are you making this up simply to bring up some fake acusation on trion about some defect on the autheticator system? Because there is no chance anyone can insert the authenticator except for the owner of the account, since the setup code is only randomly generated after installing the app on the phone and no one on trion could have possibly get a hand on your phone right?
I'm really not making it up, it's really no problem at all. I don't quite understand it myself, but it's fine. My game works now, the problems resolved and I'm already level 18. I'm loving the game, terrific.
