Camelot

So what do you guys think of this show?  I'm not real impressed myself.  I mean it seems okay,  but I think I'm watching it more out of sheer boredom than I am because I enjoy the show itself.  Still, it does seem better than the majority of mainstream television on the major broadcasting stations but that isn't really saying much.

On its own it seems alright but when you compare it to other shows like Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead, or Boardwalk Empire it just doesn't seem to be all that.

Who knows though?  The show is still young and as I said it still ends up being better than the majority of schlock that's available on regular TV.

I think its pretty decent compared to the rest of the crap that's currently on air...just kinda disappointed that James Purefoy got killed soo early..

I have no idea what "Camelot" is but I appreciate ruining it for me by telling me someone dies.

    Extremely inappropriate.

If being a developer means being quiet, mature, well-spoken, and disconnected from the community, then by all means do me a favor and believe I'm not one.

Personally, I thought it was quite bland. In the entire 2 hours, I never really had a moment of anticipation for what was to come next. I was just kind of hoping it would get better. I watched the preview of Game of Thrones tonight on HBO, and that looks like it will be a LOT better. I can't wait for that one on the 17th.

I found it a struggle to watch to be honest.  I too thought it was rather bland, didn't form much of an attachment to the characters and while I have nothing against it in general, tossing in a sex scene pretty much right off the bat just says to me, "watch our show cuz we have nudity, even if our writing sucks."  My intention was to watch this series as well as Game of Thrones, but I don't know how much I can stand.

Game of Thrones on the otherhand continues to look impressive, and they're working off of some amazing, original fantasy material.  The 14 minute preview last night was fantastic even though all we got was a peak. :(

I thought this end part of the review on hitfix summed it up nicely.  The reviewer has seen a handful of the episodes:

There are lots of stories to tell within the Arthurian legend, but already by the third episode, you can sense wheel spinning. Arthur's just pining away for Guinevere in the least interesting way possible, while two of his followers wander off on their own to recruit The Future Sir Gawain. It's an amazingly dull episode, but it suggests the sort of stagnant storytelling that may be required to make a long series run. Certainly the action scenes, cinematography -- Yes, Ireland is pretty, what else? -- and special effects won't prove to be much of a lure.

Really, anything that "Camelot" does, HBO's "Game of Thrones" does many times better. Just hold off for two weeks and watch that instead.

I could ramble on about "Camelot" for a bit, but I'm writing this review from San Francisco, where much of Team HitFix will be covering WonderCon over the next few days. I've gotta go register and catch a panel for "Falling Skies" and a screening of next week's "Nikita."

Short version: You've seen this story before and you've seen it told better. The end.

Yeah, I have to say that does look rather interesting.  Never read the books myself.

Is Thrones meant to be a miniseries or a new syndicated show? Does anyone know?  Just curious...

I think the show is absolutely terrible. My wife loves it, but I think it's trash.

Game of Thrones is good, but Camelot is not.

I enjoy watching Camelot but its not exactly the best out there, i think Its mainly the guy who plays the king - I just dont like him a single bit as an actor, i like the rest of the show though..

I'm way - WAY more excited for game of thrones, totally hooked after the first 4 episodes I've seen.
