City of Heroes: The Player Help System

Paragon Studios devs have posted a new City of Heroes blog article outlining one of the lesser-known features of Issue 20: Incarnates, the Player Help System. New players will see a pop up window on first logging in asking if they want to participate in PHS. If so, the new player will be assigned a veteran player to assist them in learning all of the ins and outs of City of Heroes.
Players who have chosen the path of a "Helper" will find that their name has been changed to a golden color, as they are treasured members of our community who are giving selflessly of their time (laying it on a bit thick, aren't we?). As a Helper, you'll also be granted the corresponding title of "Helper" should you choose this option, unless you have a temporary title, in which case your temporary title will override the "Helper" title.

Just curious, is there system still completely borked that if you dare level too fast you cannot complete missions from lower level contacts? Not refereing to the 'time machine' system but the actual ability to complete their original missions and gain the corresponding rep to fill their bar.
No, once you have outleveled your contact, that is it. However, the flashback system provides access to every storyline and contact. You can even run the original Positron task force solo.

If you're worried about outleveling a contact Warzod there's actually a command to turn off your XP gain. I've never used it, but it's nice for those folks who just have to run every contact even if they would otherwise outlevele their content.
Too bad helpers dont get a discount for being a helper. Sounds like a cool system though.
You shouldn't help someone to get a discount. You help someone because that is what you do to build a good community. People in CoH were usually very helpful. The game just makes it easier for them to do it.
I played CoH for a few years. Decent game, I just didn't like the lack of world PVP. If they made a PVP server where we could actually take control of the enemy cities, I would resub.
Great! I had lots of fun introducing noobs to SWG as a Helper; it's gonna be awesome doing that in CoX!!
heh that popped up on me when i logged in and clicked no because i did now know what it was and thought it was lord recluse trying to trick me, sounds cool though, might have to figure out a way to turn it on now, they really need to tell us about these systems before we get the popup box.
