Combat after CU

JulianDracosJulianDracos Member UncommonPosts: 1,528

Ok here is what I am wondering since I haven't play SWG is a long time.  Have the recent changes actually made the game's combat like Star Wars combat?  By that what I mean is if I shoot a bunny or StormTrooper a couple of times with a blaster does it fall dead?

Given the complaints over CU my assumption is no.  That I will need to shoot the person dozens of times and the fluffy space bunny will still be able to kick my ass even though I am shooting him at point blank range.

If your "fluffy space bunny" is in reality (what a word talking about a game :-) a level 80 Monthy Python Killer bunny from hell, then yes, you will need to shoot several times at it before its dead. Or it eats you alive if you are not up to the task of taking on high level mobs.

If you are talking about the normal starter animals you kill fresh from the newbie space station ... those are MUCH easier then the greenest stormtrooper recruit.

You may shoot it from point blank ... but if you dont hit it with your starter BB gun, then it CAN chew through your plastic boots at point bank range.

    LOL good question
    Answer:
It all depends on the difficulty of the critter/npc you are fighting :) If you're a master combat profession and you go up against a low power npc you'll kill it in one or 2 hits. But if you go up against an elite storm trooper or a piket protector that's equivalent to you in power it will take some time to take him/it down.

In short: No you won't be killing anything that will net you XP in 1 hit. Happens in the movies but in an MMO where XP makes you more powerful it'll never happen.

I haven't played SWG since about a year after release.  I got tired of the continual MCH nerfs, the overpowering abilities of Combat Medic and Commandos, and the total lack of any indepth content.

Has this new combat upgrade patch done anything worthwhile to the game?
