In case you missed yesterday's trailer from Funcom, we've got it here at MMORPG.com. "Remember all those legends and myths you heard when you were a kid, or the conspiracies that you've been fed in countless blog entries and forum posts? They're all true. It's all explained in Funcom's latest video for The Secret World."

Excellent trailer! Can't wait for the game to arrive!

Damn.... That was pointless..... They are just putting out update for the sake of putting out update....

Seriously, that is just slightly better than a power point slide show....

Hmm... I think it was more for the people who liked the ARG's and the mysteries, conspiracy theories and puzzling it brings, that sort of thing.

While their former trailer was more the standard MMO trailer, highlighting the usual MMO features and visuals and the ways in which TSW will have some different mechanics than the standard.

I liked that they tend to include a lot of possibilities for their world and possible quests, the video lacked a bit of punch for sure but if you forget about the game tiself it was pretty cool that they thought about all this. Solomon? Woot!

I liked it, it wasn't a super-CGI fest, but got the point across very simply.  And made me itching to learn more.  Good hype-build up :)

i like it, im so sick and tired of dwarfs and elfs, the whole fantasy setting.

    this could be fun.

    Honestly SBFord,

This is exactly the same trailer you posted here http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/312395/The-Secret-World-New-Trailer-Surfaces.html

In a Video of nearly 3 minutes - only about 20sec shows environments (empty ones at that!) and what looks like some cinematic cut scenes.

I am getting Half Life 2 flashbacks here - remember - about the time they got hacked and it turned out they were no-where even close to release?

Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.

If environments is what you like and mysteries or puzzles not so much in an MMORPG, then this trailer is more something for you:

Thanks - that is a better trailer - and i have actually seen that before too.

In fact, if you look closely, some of the environment shots are the same as in this 'latest' trailer.

I think you miss my point though, envirionments are one thing - the trick is to populate them.

In the trailer you link - at least there is some movement - but those scenes are definately from instanced battles.

This is why I am becoming increasingly 'concerned' about TSW... we have seen this before...

I don't know exactly what you mean, but if you're referring to the threeway faction battles, they already mentioned that those would take place in arena-type settings, 3 different types, Eldorado, Stonehenge and another one I can't recall. In the footage I think it's Eldorado you see.

As for instancing, Tornquist stated that they wanted to stay away as far as possible from that for the open world, they want everyone to be playing in the same world and areas, not some instances of it. So they don't want to go the AoC way. As for they'll manage to prevent it 100%, I don't know.

I have to wonder about having an enormously graphically detailed world with large numbers of people running around it not being a lagfest, there's a reason why Blizzard and Turbine opted for low polycount and lower texture detail in their MMO's and that was simply to make their worlds work.

On the other hand, FFXIV has a world that has one of the highest graphical detail, and still it is seamless with no instancing for open-world zones.

So who knows, they did improve upon the Dreamworld engine they're using a lot.

Because of Funcom's past promises not kept i doubt that they will get away with unlimited hype and runaway sales. Folks who might be interested are gonna wait and see how Funcom tests this and i forsee if no open beta that they will not do as good as they may say. If you see at the 11th hour there fans saying its still beta and fixes are coming, it will fail and in a short time.

Like all other recent mmo's alot of us gamers are not impressed
