At this stage in my life, the one thing that turns me off of an mmo is the community. For example, the best server I was ever on in WoW was Moon Guard because the guilds I hung with were the nicest people ever. I didn't play EVE very long because it wasn't too friendly over there.
Obviously gameplay is important, but a decent community with some RP elements to it would be great. Any suggestions?

Chose a game you like, join a guild with a nice bunch of people, leave global channels.
Thats how i do it mostly
Everyone has been very cool on my Rift server. Endless.
Remember Old School Ultima Online
Leucrotta is actually right. Choose your game, and choose your community(guild). Although the MMO with the most friendly and cozy community undoubtedly is Ryzom, I highly recommend it - it's a great game too!
Ryzom, Haven and Hearth, Xsyon, The Repopulation, UO private shards, Mortal Online, Darkfall 1 remakes (New Dawn or Rise of Agon), RPG MO, Project Gorgon, EQ: Sanctuary (custom server)
Lord of the Rings ONline comes to mind.

The best communities I've found so far were on LotRO, EQ2 and now in RIFT. I've found people playing these games to be more mature and always helpful with the least amount of trolls n such, even with Global channels on. But like others have said....you could just find a game you really like, join a great guild and turn the other channels off, thats what I do the second I find even one person I despise. One troll on a server can really bring out the worst in many people....once that starts, its buh bye chat channel.
Fallen Earth. About 24/7 instant GM support. I had people ride a long distance just to help me with a question, and when I was new to the game and asked someone how to get a horse, he gave me free stuff so I can easier craft the necessary bridle.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
I Like Lord of the Rings Onlines Community. People play the game not just sit around and troll .

I agree with this as far as the community part goes..as for how great of a game it is that is really up to you to decide OP. Play the trial first. Its not for everyone.
to my surprise, Mabinogi have a decent community, well not everyday you will find nice players, but when i was playing this around last month, i had a very good moment with the community, you just need to find the right guild
So What Now?
Conquer Online
The game rewards high level players for helping new players which pushes people together making it easy to make friends.
City of Heroes
All the missions are much more fun with team mates so everyones always teaming up. Its one of the only games I find it easy to make friends in. In any other game, theres either zero teaming, or its team for a quest/mission and never say a word and then disband.
+1 for Fallen Earth.. great community and a different setting/type of game which is a nice change.
EvE Online has one of the best communities around.
If you're mainly looking for running missions and leveling up, then it's no wonder tho that you can't see the beauty of the games community.
EvE Online is made for people who want to build up and destroy empires. That's where you'll find the community of EvE Online shine bright like a star.
Get into a corp that's taking part in the alliance warfare and you'll see how good a community it is.
Never seen such a community in another MMORPG tbh, and I've played and tested them all since AO basically.
