I'm bored so I've decided to give out my mmorpg awards, here goes.
Best PvP: Dark Age of Camelot
Best first impression and early level PvE: World of Warcraft
Best "endgame" PvE and replayability: Lineage 1
Best Free MMORPG: MapleStory
Most Unique MMORPG: MapleStory again
and this year I've added a new honor to be won, I call it the Polished Turd Award, it is given to the game that has the Best Graphics/Worst Gameplay ratio, the hands down winner is....

Have you played EQ2 recently? Well I'd hate to stop your Maplestory experience, *lol* but EQ2 is a polished Gem. With amazing depth too I might add. SoE has done an amazing job adding content and tweaking gameplay and they get the thumbs up from me and from anyone else who doesn't just spread what they hear from flamers "SoE sucks cuz, well thats what my friend says!" you know the type, and actually gives the game a try themselves

No explanation what-so-ever and too little awards.
any award for maple story throws the whole thing out the window lol. a 2d, side scrolling game wher eyou kill the same mushroom or walking wood stumps for days and days... only to lvl up and kill the same mushroom that are different color or same stump but darker or with axe in thier head for days and days...and everyone have the same attacks, same stat points...sure you can change them 'slightly' but no sense in it.
maple story is a joke.
I wouldn't slam a game I have not played. I bought EQ2 the first day of release and I stand by my opinion, I think it looks beautiful but the gameplay is horrible. And I'm not a SOE hater, if they put out a good game I'd play it, though I'd be hesitant to buy another game from them after EQ2.

Well said. Back in the good ol' days everyone brought out the flames for the people that truly deserved them, making it so much more entertaining. These days it's just some sort of watered down, pseudo-intellectual pissing match.
In that you've been a member of this site for less than a year, I wonder when, exactly, the "good ol' days" were by your recollection. Care to expand on that?
There's absolutely nothing different about these boards than any other message board on the internet. Whether I'm a long-time poster at Gamefaqs, Penny Arcade or "wherever" is really quite irrelevant.

Then what were these "good ol' days" you speak of. Being an active member of the internet, including forums, for over a decade I cannot recall a time where things haven't operated more or less precisely like this.
First impressions are always the most important. frankly i don't care what SOE did to try and fix EQ2, the game sucked when i played it, end of story.
If i liked an MMO when i played it and had to stop for whatever reason, I will go back to it. but if i hated a game when i played it i will never go back...that's just me though.
