Basically, Its a successful combination of WOW and WAR! Thanks to the Weekend Keys I was presented with a vey entertaining game. It was a good surprise.
This is indeed what RIFT is, a successful combination of different game mechanisms, not only wow and war, but also many others. It does has it's flaws but there is a lot to do. I, for example, was bored questing. Battleground were a nice alternative as they gave great exp, just as dungeons and rifts!
Enjoying it a lot. Easy to get in groups and the steady influx of players currently means a slow leveler like me always has people to game with.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
I think Rift walks a fine line between WoW and something different. Not everyone is looking for a WoW clone and not everyone is looking for something the polar opposite.
I tried it out over the weekend as well for the first time. I have mixed feelings about the game and am on the fence about purchasing it or not. But I do feel Rift borrows much more from WAR than it does WoW.
There just isn't much replay value to leveling alts unless it's specifically for end game purposes. Trion needs to have a better end game than WOW to succeed. Is it possible?
Rifthammer is cool, just bought it on Amazon digital download for $34.99 for my gf, and will be buying a box from gamestop tomorrow for myself Two of my friends who were WoWers played the free weekend with me (after much convincing) and have already purchased it earlier today.

shortest review yet - didn't like it, glad some people do.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
