GW2 site problems?

Justin83xJustin83x Member Posts: 406

I am wondering if anyone else has been having problems with the GW2 site not loading up at all? I'm pretty sure its nothing wrong with my computer because all other sites work just fine. So i am just wondering if others are having this problem too. I'd like to figure it out because I check the site every day for possible news updates.

I believe it's your computer, or more likely your browser, that's causing the problem. I just opened the site and it works fine for me.

I am using Google Chrome by the way.

Have the same problem here in Denmark. I'm using firefox 4, but it's the same with IE9.

Your DNS could be causing it! Try refreshing it with the following commands; first open up a dos prompt, then type in ipconfig/flushdns (you should get the message successfully flushed the dns resolver cache), then type in ipconfig/registerdns (you should get a message that the DNS has been initiated). Also clear you offline webpage cache and your cookies.

If that does not help you could try changing the DNS server from your ISP to google to see if you can reach the site. This article will explain how.

Let me know if that works, DNS is one of the more command reasons of why you can not access a website. So I hope that helps.

I had similar problem not too long ago, not just with the GW 2 site but also NCSoft's. It wouldn't either load or would load very slowly. It fixed itself without me doing anything. My problem is that I signed up for GW 2 news letter like 3 times and didn't get anything from them at all.

There is a thread on the GW2Guru forums of people having similar issues. I, too, have been having problems with timeouts, etc for both GW1 and 2 sites. Switching browsers did not work (I've tried Chrome among others), adding the domain to my hosts file did not help, and the problem ONLY exists for the GW1 and 2 sites.

Apparently it's a known issue and being worked on. Frustrating, though.

Anyone try tracert?  Maybe there's a common hop that's timing out.  I have no trouble getting to the site so I can't test it myself.

I never had any problems, I run Opera.

But a few suggestions: It can be your firewall messing up. Try turning it off to se if it helps (don't forget to restart it again as soon as you seen if it is causing the problem).

It could be your DNS server messing. There are ways to fix that as well including having your own DNS server, but having the side cashed in your browser usually helps.

It could be Java that is messing. you could download it again.

It can also be some kind of virus if ou have problems with other sites as well. Do an online scan from: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and run Add-Aware.

Tried what AKASlaphappy suggested and it didn't help me. It seems to be kind of random to me. If I try 30 mins later it loads normally. For me it is also guildwars.com, arena.net and ncsoft. Think I'll just wait it out.

Yeah, I've flushed my dns cache, turned off (and then on) my firewall, I run spyware/malware/adware/virus scans daily with updated definitions, and I still have problems - off and on, as others have noted. Sometimes the page never loads, sometimes it loads, just slowly, sometimes it loads with poor formatting, etc. Tracert sometimes shows a timeout on one of the hops, other times not.

There have been times in the past where 1 or more websites would not load and I have always been able to fix it by rebooting my modem and router.
