Aion seem to give trials only through a referal from a player. Alternatively, you can ask for a code in the community forum of aionsource fan site:

The trial lasts for 3 days, 5 hours or level 7, whichever comes first.
Age of Conan offers an unlimited trial:

I didn't find the level restrictions, but there are chat and trade restrictions in place. I have the feeling that the game limits trials in Tortage only.
yeah...forgot to mention...i played Aion at launch and stopped because it was too grindy and lack of pve content and i tried AOC trial...was wondering how is leveling and endgame doin in both games.... i reached lvl 23 with demonologist and barbarian in conan and it was pretty interesting.... but since i have to pay for the game and subscription i wouldnt want to regret i chose the wrong 1...again...sry for not mentioning this in previous post
Both trials kinda suck IMO. AIon because it only sows you how you are as non-deava, while the game 'starts' when you've ascended. AoC is better than AIon, though Tortage is just a too small part in the game, showing only the PvE content. There's no crafting, PvP or whatever...
If you really want to try either trial, AoC is the best though....
I would say aion had a better trial but AoC came out better.
Free to play means pay to win.
I would say AOC as well.I played Aion during beta and for the first month of release. It seemed geared more towards PVP,and I prefer PVE.I haven't played AOC in awhile due to other games drawing me away, but when I did play,I had a blast.
i would opt for AOC.. its far superior to Aion.. and not just graphically... although i would add, that doesnt mean i think either game is all that good.. both have issues.. Aions main one being its boringly grindy.. and a complete yawn fest.. i bought it when it was on offer for £9 and only managed to play it for a week.. despite being fairly determined to get my money's worth out of it.. .. having said that.. AOC.. once you've completed tortage.. ... .. well thats it really. AOC looks better and has decent combat mechanics.. so chances are it will keep you interested for longer than Aion does.. but its not much of a recommendation im afraid..
