What happened?

XoshuaXoshua Member Posts: 127

This applies to life, MMORPG's included.  It might just be age but I'm almost certain a lot has changed in ten years.  I'm not talking about technology either, although it may have a role in the change.  Only a few years ago I remember families being more family oriented, people being more social and less trolls.  What happened to everything?  It's almost like the entire world chose to be in a rush 24/7 and forgot how to be the way they use to be.  Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Time to fix this genre.

You're becoming an adult. That's all.

it's always been this way. You are just growing up old enough to actually see it

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Well when I was a teenager, the only way people communicated with one another was either over the phone, or, through the mail. All personal records were on paper, and very rarely accessed.

There were 13 television stations, if you were lucky, and to eat a pizza, for most of the country, you had to drive to the resturaunt, only major city's had delivery, and there wasn't Domino's.

In most households, only the man worked. Woman did work , just not as much as now, no where near.

If you wanted to know what was going on in other country's you pretty much had to go there and see for yourself.

New ,movies usually played for months, or years, at the theater, and thats the only place you could see one.

Music was on records, you had to go to a store and buy.

And people only new what they saw on TV, about our government, and it's actions, how our tax dollars were spent, etc.

There were no cell phones, calculators were not allowed in class. Most people cooked their own food, and washed their dishes by hand.

Our culture did exist at a slower pace. In offices, typewriters were used,. Power tools had to be pluged into a socket (you'd be suprised how much speed, cordless tools added to construction).

Households owned fewer cars, not that some didnt have two or three cars, but many owned only 1,

So compared to then, yes society does move alot faster.

Where it is not as noticeable in Urbas area's, those Urban areas are now much bigger, and almost all populated areas, move at an Urban pace. And with the tremendous amount of realtime information available, city's and people around the world know much more about events globally, and the actions of there own Governments.

Makes sense.  It's a shame though, things seemed better before.  Atleast we get information quicker, and can communicate easier.  I just feel like people aren't as social as they use to be.  I remember having neighbours we actually spoke to and had BBQs with.  Or people acting more polite holding doors, saying hello, etc.

Well, you could be that neighbor who invites others over for a barbeque. You're the person who could start a neighborhood trend by holding doors and saying hello.

Of course, it won't be Texas barbeque but at least it'll be something cooked with a fire.
