After missing the trial (Allies of the ascended), due to technical difficulties all due to Trion, I was convinced I should buy it before trying it. If I don't like it, I still get 30 days free, right? So I went ahead and bought it... from steam, because for some reason, their sight doesn't like me, and I couldn't click the "Buy Now" button. Somehow, I think I ran into every possible error with the trial and buying it. Anyway, I get it all patchd up and d-loaded and somehow encounter no errors logging in.
Starting with the first thing you see: The graphics. I turned them all the way up. Not just to "Ultra" but beyond. No lag, looks awesome. One problem I have, is that turning with the mouse seems shaky. It's not my mouse, which is 3200 DPI, and it's not the graphics, because turning with the keyboard is smooth. It's minor, though. Other than that, pretty stunning for an MMO, or any game, for that matter.
Character Creation: The customization is in the middle, between going too faw, like APB, and very little, like WoW. It's just more than that, in fact. No problems with that.
If you don't know, you chose 4 classes, with 3 "souls" (Is that right?) Basically, 3 talent trees, all at once, chosing from about 10 or so. I didn't actually count. So, you could, in theory, be a two-handed weapon wielder who also has the abilities of a reaver. Very cool. Kudos on that part.
Beginnning: The bginning if pretty imersive, with a few small cutscenes to intoruduce you to the game. It also introduces your talent trees, which you gain through the first few quests. After, you come out into the normal world, though I won't say how
All in all, I'm impressed. I still have my WoW account, which, ironically expires the same day as the 30-day free period ends. I'm on the edge about cancelling, though I don't think I'll play both for too long. the $15 a month thing is killing a lot of games, for me. The only real downside is that I wish they would go cheeper, and break the $15 trend. FTP is a killer, of corse, but just a different sub-fee. lower it a little.

Try changing your mouse input to hardware cursor or vice versa. Plus the $15 subscription is the average because thats how much it costs to keep the game running , taking into account overheads and a need for profit. If the $15 is too much for you, maybe you should grab a part time job.
After all, you don't need to subscribe to the game if you don't like the fee.
Hell, there are guilds out there for various mmo's that are willing to pay you in hard cash or gametime, for designing a website or even a logo for them.
It's not that I don't like the fee, but I can't play two games at $15 a month. I don't have enough time to feel like I've enjoyed something. What I might do, If I REALLY like it, is do a 6-month on both, just to pay a little less. I Work a full-time job, I'm not grabbing a part-time so I can play two games. It's a recreational thing, as it is, IMO. I can get pretty serious playing, but in the end...
Something else that I like, but forgot to mention, is the UI. The UI is bad at first, but you can modify it in almost any way imaginable, despite the fact that we can't use our beloved addons. You can also import the settings of your graphics, UI, and everything else between characters instantly.
