Every time I come to this website to check up on things, I run into the same annoying issue, and it seems no one else has mentioned it as being a problem. When you click on a thread, the link sends you straight to the last post in that thread, and not the original post. Is there a setting somewhere to change this, or is this some programmers poor design decision?

When I click on a thread, I want to read the original post before reading any of the replies. The fact that it takes you directly to the latest post is ridiculous.

Throw us a bone here.

When a discussion has gone on for a few pages it's far easier for those taking part in the discussion when they can click the link and be taken to the most recent post. For those just joining the conversation it would be best not to click the thread link. You should click the subforum link. Then you can click the thread and start from the beggining.

I will use this as an example......

    Is Eve washed up?

If you are already part of the discussion and wish to reply to the latest post click the "Is Eve washed up?" link.

If you are new to the discussion and wish to read the thread from the beggining click the "Jita (General)" link and select the thread "Is Eve washed up?" from there, one extra click is require without the need for all that asinine scrolling.

In the future it might be wise to not be so eager to throw out that word stupidity.

Amen. Maybe there is a reason for it, but can't think of any .. guess I just got used to it over the years :)

(edit) Just noticed the post above, so guess there is a reason.. not one I can agree to though hehe.

For people returning to the discussion, what is wrong with clicking the link below the thread name for the latest post? That is the function of every other forum that I've ever used and it seems to be the most "functional".

In my opinion, it's an annoyance. If I want to continue a discussion on any other forum, I use the link for the latest post.

So in essence your saying clicking 1 extra time without the need to even scroll is to much for you? 2 clicks is all it takes my friend. If thats to much for you to be bothered with then I don't think your complaints going to be taken very seriously.

You had an issue, I showed you how to bypass it. Nothing more I can do, good luck and I hope you either learn to live with the horror you may have to make 1 extra click or that the Mods or admins see this horrible plight you must endure and fix it for you. I'm sure the coding needed by them to reduce your two clicks to one will in deed seem warranted.

Yes, that and no support for in-browser spell checking (at least not in firefox) in the WYSIWYG editor. I always end up quickly googling words I'm not sure of (switching to the other browser makes you lose formatting), but I probably make more mitsaeks than I wuld liek to maek becuase of tihs.

I know how to bypass it. My request is that this forum function like that of other forums, which by popular design is the obvious way it should function. I didn't ask for your explanation or for you to state the obvious. The link of origin should point to the post of origin. If someone wants to view the latest post, that should be the extra click. If you want to follow a post, that's what subscriptions are for, and when you click the link in your email, it'll take you to the latest post. I'm just asking why this forums functionality is backwards of that from every other forum I've ever used. It's awkward and unnecessary.

Well I can't argue with a reasonable complaint. I agree with this one ^

You'll notice that when viewing the forum, there are multiple links allowing access into a thread, one of those is the original link, and if the thread is multiple pages, a link for each page, and a link for the LAST page. If someone wants to view the last page they can use that "last page" link. But if I want to view the original post, I should be able to click that original post link and be taken straight to it. It is the obvious functionality of a forum, which is why it is employed in 99% of the forums out there.

I fixed my original post. Now it's not quite so offensive. :)

So it doesn't make sense to at one time fix an issue that will save thousands of people collectively thousands of extra clicks? It's not a matter of being lazy or difficult, it's a matter of common sense functionality.

Are you asking if it makes sense for them to change it so that the current forum activity box no longer takes you to the current post and instead to see the current forum activity you must click the link, click last and then scroll all the way down so that you can click one link in the current forum activity box and read older posts instead of being taken to the current ... well... forum activity?

I'd have to say no, it really doesn't make much sense. The current forum activity links taking you to the current activity in a thread makes sense. Asking that it be changed so that you can view old posts from the current forum activity box instead doesn't seem to hit that common sense area for me for some reason.

Again as it stands now, those wanting to see the current forum activity can go to the current forum activity box, click a link and be taken directly to the current forum activity.

What you want is for that current forum activity link to take you to old posts with one click and let those wanting to see the current forum activity click the link, click last then scroll.

It will save "thousands of people" thousands of clicks if they want to use the current forum activity box to view older posts but double the clicks and throw in a scroll for those that want to use the current forum activity box to view current forum activity.

And you really want to stand by your comment on this making sense?

Now before you reply.... since you don't want to jump to the most recent post in this thread... are you going to go to the very first page and read through everything or are you simply clicking the link in the recent/current forum activity box and jumping directly to the recent post to reply?

Clicking the thread title brings you to the original post, not the latest post. If you click the little arrow on the far right next to the name of the last user who posted it will indeed bring you to the latest post. You can also click the page number if there are multiple pages to get to get to whatever page you want to. Not sure what is being requested here.

I think he means in the recent activity ticker maybe? I know if I click it I'm taken to the most recent post, which I think is by design, since this ticker shows what's new and not "What's old". Works fine any other way.

Ah, yes. The recent activity ticker takes you to the post that was recently made and thus appeared on the ticker. This is by design.
