How you can compare that game to Aion?

lagerchobglagerchobg Member UncommonPosts: 203

Is it because NCsoft are creating it? Then it like to compare L2 to Aion...it is just pointless. Yes ok the graphics are similiar but thats it cant see other similiarities from the articles I've read and the clips I've watched so far.

    NCSoft = NCFail

From Lineage > Lineage II > Aion

I used to defend them but now..not anymore..

NCSoft is good enough. Its not like Aion replaced either of the Lineage games. Get over it.

NCSoft seems like a decent company in Korea.   It's NCWest that's problematic.

What distinguishes the game from others of the same genre is its natural blending of RTS and RPG elements, which will allow gamers dual experiences of interacting with the environment and other players at the same time.

The marvelous martial-arts moves add more luster to the whole gameplay experience, making it more of a fighting-themed costume play.

This newly-created world in the game doesn’t stay the way it is as the story develops. The visual display is changing constantly. And the players will try to accommodate to this fluid situation in order to get to higher levels.

If you do just a little research you will see every game you named are all in the Top 5 Most Played Pay To Play MMOs in the world. Aion is probaly behind World Of Warcraft with the #2 spot.

I have to agree with this, personally I know NCsoft is about as hated as a Apple Mac, but it does make great games. Its naive to right off a company purely on the limited success of the western markter and customer service. If Blade and Soul isn't a hit as well I will be incredibly surprised.

Same here from Lineage 2 to Aion was a huge step down in my opinion.

NCSoft is a sack of liars and false promises.

With that said, that doesn't mean the game will suck, but I won't trust this company again with what they say.  I'll have to see what it does and puts out before I believe in it.

One thing I've seen is all the false advertising it did for Aion.  Watch any of the original videos before the game was released and you won't find hardly anything in those videos in the game other than a few things.  The videos falsely lead you to seeing a totally innovative game but what you end up getting is a underdeveloped short coming of an MMO.   I did enjoy the game to an extent but when I saw they weren't intending on doing anything to update or fix current issues or bring new content at a quicker pace then I saw no reason to stick around.  The game lacked a lot, but the videos say otherwise.

I will be playing GW2, all I can say is, I am glad this game will be controlled by ArenaNet and NOT NCSoft.

I so much wanna believe in this game but I won't put a whole lot of hype into it until I get to play it.

Another huge problem with the game is the fact it will be joined up with console gamers.  We already saw what happened to DCUO.  Will they distinguish the differences in interfaces for each the users?  I wanna be able to chat the same way I do now.  I wanna be able to reprogram my keys as I like.  I don't wanna have to have a controller to play the game on my PC.  If it's going to be basically a console port to PC, then I probably won't bother.

Before you get too hyped about any NCSoft game, always check out the actual footage of the game NOT rendered footage like they do in their videos cause it has a lot of extra effects and content that never makes it to the game.

NCSoft is just a little too "company" focused and not quite enough "gamer" focused... They develop and market some of the most gorgeous games on the planet.  The concern that gamers have is that if that beautiful game doesn't offer steam to the revenue train, it will be choked and killed.

Trust is paramount to gamers, and NCSoft has shown to not always be 100% trusted to maintain and develop the products that they hype so much.

My example is Aion...which is clearly not seeing the same developer love in the West as it gets in the East.  The only reason is that their focus seems to be only as powerful as the revenue stream that the game or region brings the company.

You know.   If I hadn't really experienced it, I probably wouldn't believe it as I would think as big as NCSoft is, it wouldn't do such a stupid thing.  But all the signs say "YES".

When I was playing Aion I had a pretty reputable guildy say one day he heard an interview or something one time where he heard NCSoft was going to let the western version of Aion just die.  He's never really been a troll but I thought he was just making that stuff up.  (This was only about 3 months after the NA/EU launch.)

When Aion launched just watch some of the videos from the initial phase.  Using a girl to lure in more gamers also talking bout the game.  Using a lot of fake scenarios that never made it to game.  They were pushing this game really really hard.

Then you watch the developer video of B&S and at one point you hear them talk about Aion and that hopefully it is successful more because that money is going towards the development of their game.

There is just a lot of signs that point that direction.   Then you see the state of Aion today.  They aren't forking any funding into it like they should (least not into the western territories).  It's obvious.  The servers set up here were probably all let die simply to ready for GW2 and have the funding and such ready for that game. Cause NCSoft did kind of disappear for a bit specially after that huge sueing from Richard Garriot.  So I do think this was just a huge stunt to force some growth back into the company.   It was a dirty deed but was it really a necessary one?   If they put some continual development into their Aion, I would still be playing it today.  It just lacked in so many ways   Believe it or not, I prefered the v.1.1 I played in China better than any other patch after that.  It had better progression, it didn't nerf any PvP, it was just all out better balance and such in the game.  I personally feel they did what they did to please as many as they could to generate initial revenue.

Anyway, that was just an observance.  Whether or not putting the knife in the backs of half their supporters was a good thing or not to regenerate company interest in the long run will actually help, I don't know.  I think they did step on a few too many toes to really regain another following like before.  So even if this game rocks your socks off, I think it won't get the reception like previous Aion once had.

I don't know about "underdeveloped" but your first statement is the reason why I didn't contineu with Aion.

I followed it since announcement and even attended a product launching party at PAX  when they were really pushing it (fun party by the way!)

but when I finally got in the game it just didn't come off as the revolutionary game they were initially making.

Most of the world really feels like various disny themepark lands. Compare that to Lineage 2 which really felt more like a world.

I didn't feel like I was exploring a world but rather that I just logged into a very deliberate world that funnelled you from one place to another. Each server was touted as having the capability of being completely different right down to the weather depending on player choices. heck there was even supposed to be climbing.

Now, to be fair, I very well understand that these games can change during development. It's just that what I ended up logging into was not what I thought I'd be getting.

Having said that, I very much intend to try Blade and Soul. NC Soft is a very mercenary company, no lies there. I realize it's just business but I just dont' get the feeling from them that I do with, say, CCP or Turbine. I mean, these companies are really into what they are making and are very much behind making them work for the long term.

Sometimes I feel that NC or even Sony are creating "products" that they push to market so they can create more products.

And then they showed their "future vision" movie. It's a great vision but I just don't feel the thrust of changes being added so that that vision can come to frution.

They make beautiful games but somewhere along the lines something is lost.

This game will be nothing like Aion, aion didnt have a sweet combat system and martial arts skills like blade and soul will have. Aion wont beable to compete on the scale that blade and soul will deliever on.
