OK.....I really enjoy this game (even though it's played out as it move along with most other theampark style mmo's); but. one of the ideas that make this game differant is the world events. I spent two weeks playing around with stage one of Trions first event, waiting for stage two which was to take place last week. It was then delayed until Saterday (yesterday). So what happens, I get off work, and stage two and three have come and past in two hours (never to be seen again). So I guess one of the only reasons to play have been eliminated (unless you quit your job and play 24/7).

you should get that eye fixed.
Did you read any of the developers posts saying that it did not end up playing out the way they had wanted / hoped?
I feel like if you had you wouldn't be posting / complaining about it since they already stated they want it to play out differently in the future and they said they are sorry for how it turned out this time...
Scott Hartsman posted about it right here.
TLDR; Sorry it was too short, we'll learn from our mistakes for next time, here's a goodie.
Oh and I missed it too. I couldn't play much in March / April so I don't have a high level yet, and I couldn't log in due to the giga-queues.
@Laughing
While I'm willing to make SOME concessions to Trion for being a relatively new company...
Yesterday was unacceptable. No amount of "Oh, whelp, we're sorry it sucked/lasted 2 hrs/occurred on a free trial weekend" can make up for it. When ANY subscribers get pushed for Free people. That's a sign that they care about people buying and not subbing. It's unacceptable.
This isn't the FIRST event they've had issues with. So now I'm starting to see a recurring pattern.
Now that you mention it....thats another thing that bugs me. When something doesn't work correctly, the first thing people / Dev say is "I'm sorry", "well fix it" or some excuss. With hundred of schools, hundreds of thousands of schooled experts and way more than hundreds of millions of dollars spent on gaming and development, why are these issues still taking place? My 8 and 10 year old kids are always saying their sorry or opps. Are we saying that these Dev are children?
Well, they are HUMAN and working with BRAND NEW technology that they haven't even fully figured out or reached its full potential. If something doesn't work correctly what do you expect them to say? "Get over it." ?? OF course they'll say "We're sorry."
Learn to realize no one is perfect. I think the compensation for what happened is astounding to be honest. I've never seen an MMO company give THAT much back in compensation. Most times devs just give like a free day to your sub (BLIZZARD! lol).
I'm so at a loss. You are 100% correct Elocke, I'm not sure why the OP is suggesting that only children say they are sorry. I find an appology to be a very nice gesture, and also I find its rare that someone who is "childish" or is a "child" to actually say they are infact sorry, let alone mean it. It takes stones, humility, and a good amount of maturity to say you are sorry and mean it.
No one is perfect.
lol.. its a truism.. that the more you give people.. the more ungrateful they will be... all i can say is personally im happy with Rift.. still having fun. still subbed.. .. still dying a lot but.. thats rifts for you.. .. note to self.. aoe attacks are great but.. you just gained the attention of.. how many.. .. ruuuunnn..
Am I the only one who doesn't see any connection between the title and the main body?
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
Hes saying he is so frustrated and annoyed and angry by the situation that his eye is twitching.
That is the connection
The way I interpretted this was that most companies pay potential profit out of pocket to compensate for shortcomings.
Trion hands out virtual items to everyone at no cost to them. Just gonna say that when I was in beta and riding around on my turtle with hundreds of others, the turtle ceased being special.
.. But in a good way.
And I'll say that I've had both compensations and I'll take the free stuff any day over oooh a whole .50 cents I saved for not having to pay for 1 day. Woopdie doo. I pay to play these games so give me the stuff I would have missed not the .50 cents I would gladly throw at them for a day where the game worked. But that's just me.
So um. How much do they have to spend?
