Hi guys. My wow account runs out tomorrow and im on the lookout for a new fun game to play, while i wait to try out SWTOR and GW2 and rift has caught my eye.
My reason for posting is i want you guys to convince me that the game is worth picking up and subscribing too.
I'm willing to listen and read non biased opinions, and also willing to watch videos that explain how the game works, and watch gameplay in action movies.
My biggest concern tho, is server population, server queue times, battleground queue times, difficulty in getting into rifts endgame instances/raids, and also what are pvp servers like? Is it like wow where you can go to almost any zone and pvp freely, or is it restricted to a small handful of zones only? What are good servers to paly on, both on US and EU servers.
I should add, i mainly play support class's like tanks, or more frequently healers. Any advice on these?
Thanks for any comprehensive replies you can give me.
Edit: Ignore my post count on here. I'm not a troll. Ive been reading this site for many years, but only got around to registering and posting now.

Always somebody that posts just when a trial weekend is over, hehe.
Regarding server population, you won't have issues if you pick a high server at prime time.
Warfronts (battlegrounds) queue times are 2-5mins for my server who is listed as medium for the most part of the day. That number goes up to 15 minutes or so after 3-4am. The times mentioned assume that you register for all warfronts and are my personal experience at level 50, no idea atm on lower level warfronts.
Difficulty getting into raids is as hard or easy as it was in WoW. If you're lucky and find yourself in a good guild that is raid-able, then it's not very difficult. Otherwise, it's extremely difficult.
PvP is restricted in the first zone outside the tutorial zone (you'll spend most of your time up to 18-20 there). Any other zone is open for PvP regardless of level. That means that if you take your level 10 character in a level 30 recommended zone, you'll be flagged regardless of level. Btw, you can talk to the opposing faction and make characters of both factions on the same server.
The game has lots of similarities to WoW that will make the transition easy. However, if you're a WoW burnout, I'm not entirely sure that you'll enjoy the game past the free month. If however you left WoW a while back and still looking since for the vanilla feeling, you might find a new home here.
Highlights are the rifts and invasions and also the soul system.
Yea i know Unfortunatley i was a loooong way from home on a work training course
Convince us WHY we should consume our time to convince you to play. And don't take this the wrong way. What i want to say is why dont you try the game and see for yourself?
Please reread my entire post instead of only the title.
Try the game mate, thats all i wanted to say.
I understand your point, but im not willing to pay for a game to find i dont like it, and as i mentioned previously, im well aware that i missed a free weekend trial. Unfortunatley, my work comes before my pleasure, so i couldnt take advantage of it, hence the reason why i am here asking.
Fair enough then. From my personal experience i can say its a good game overall, has very few bugs and it is casual friendly. There are no waiting times since the initial hype has ended and servers are populated enough. Progression is fairly easy even for casual players.
As for the classes, you will find out that due to the multiple souls system you can fulfill almost all the traditional roles according to the circumstance.
There are a lot of explanatory posts out there both pro and con Rift. Most of them summarize the arguments for and against the game. Generally speaking, it's an easy game to learn, solid system with few bugs and the soul system allows you to try most/all/ combinations (builds) after rolling 4 toons instead of..many. That said, it is the same quest system over and over (for the most part), the rifts are interesting but can be very repetitive and the PvP (which I personally didn't find too bad) is a bit 'light' (warfronts..not open).
I capped the weekend by canceling my account for the 2nd time. Good game but not enough 'new' for me.
To the OP: The way Trion is throwing around free weekends, if you wait a week or so, you might be able to get in and trial it.
It's World of Warcraft, only with 2011 HD graphics. That's all there is to it really. Try the trial and see for yourself if the game is worth your money.
This.
Rift is the most polished AAA title at the moment. I personally have some issues with specific class mechanics and balance but it's way better than any other AAA title on the market at the moment for sure.
