1. It really doesn't matter, what exp the mob gives, you get exp by doing missions and quests.
2. Well, it actually depends on some things. First off, I presume your friend had proper English while he wanted to party with someone and didn't run around like a maniac. Also you don't need to party before going into the academy since the mobs are really easy.
3. NPC henchmen cannot lvl up, but in different areas you find them at different lvls. The more you progress on you'll find higher lvl henchmen.
1 - dont care much for level , make quests and most of all missions , try to go as deep as possible in the map. you will have adrenaline rushes when worping to completely diferent areas.
2 - must be becose of level , but fortunatly not all people are like that , you can find great help from hi levels , just be patient , and try other dists , starting at dist 1.
3 - the hench have diferent level on diferent zones.

yeah hench level up
i love this game, but i have to agree sometimes finding a group can be really frustrating
[we need a worldwide genocide/ a planetary suicide/ and when the whole damned world is dead/ there''s your f***ing peace]
I think you are killing to many monsters if your henchmen leveled up on the map from level 3 to 6. Heanchmen become/are level 6 at Fort Ranik & Front Gate (I think).
In later maps/areas they get higher level & bigger party limit (4,6 then 8 people in the same team). (The archer heanchwoman doesnt do much, take mage instead).
Also doing quests you get more xp, better items & more skills as rewards.(Level up only gives points to spend on atributes not skills, so you should do quests while killing monsters).
Do note that "Althea" quest is harder than the other quests in the begining area (huge xp reward also). Also citys that are a "shield" on map have missions that gets you to other areas & give decent xp (press "enter mission" on team tab).
If you are playing with a friend try to take skills that complement each other.
You can keep the same henchmen though multiple missions, so you can level them up without staying in the same map. Of course that's not your goal, but if you keep them as a group they get stronger. But they do have different levels of them as you progress, so no need to really do that.
Grouping is a hit or miss proposition. Hopefully there is enough people your level in the area you are in and need to do the same mission. I only find it hard to group when trying to do Tombs, cuz if your not a monk or a warrior, your considered dead weight by many. And if you don't TeamSpeak or Ventrilo, then your considered 'ghetto' and not worthy.
I prefer doing the quests with henchmen because it seems every time I decide to give people a chance, there is at least one person who thinks they can tank with a ranger, or monk, and can run into a swarming group of angry mobs after just being rezzed and bringing the wrath of aggro upon the whole team. Ok, not EVERY time, but more often than not.
when you get in a city with your enchman and the enchman there are higher level, your henchmen autmatiquely become the same level of the stronger one. That probably why your henchmen leveled up.
you dont have to kill monster to level ,its the slowest way to lvl unless the monster are a few level higher then you.
If the monster have 5+ level then you its prety fats to lvl tough . I leveled from 16 to 20 by going in lonar pass(lvl 24 monster) alone with my mesmer, every kill was giving me 250 xp (was killin imp, pinesoul and ice golem) other were to hard alone.
max ive seen so far is 17 , but i believe there will be lvl20 hench as well
analizing the facts if you want to level fast , you do quests that lead to missions and missions to quests ... you will be lvl +15 before you know it and lost in the big map.

Caught your trolling again.......
You need a new line, better yet say something constructive, or go troll the swg forum.... much more to bitch about there....
Lvl 20 Henchies from the Dragons Lair onwards.
the reason he thought his henchies had lvl'ed was because he had moved from one recruitment zone to the other, as you noted at pilken Square the guys are higher then say Ascalon city, so if you quest from Ascalon to say pilken and leave pilken you automatically get the henchies from pilken if your still grouped.
For a Laugh I did try and bring back my Lvl 16 Henchies all the way from Aurora Glade, but got wiped out right at the end in Ascalon Foothill's by a Radgy lvl 24 beastie and his able side kicks.
Unless they changed it, henchmen do level. You'll only see it very early on, since it doesn't take too much xp then, and your more likely to still have the same henchies for a couple of quests/missions. I've seen them level during a quest. This was during one of the BWE's, so it's possible it's been changed, but I don't see why they would. At higher levels you probably won't see them level because it takes much more xp to get them to next level.
Well I had Farrah Cappo level up on me in the short quest i did with her in pre-searing, so I guess anything is possible
I can't imagine staying in one zone long enough for henchmen to level up in any serious way. I've seen them level once, maybe twice, while partying with them, but since zones are instanced, most monsters don't respawn, so you can clear out a whole zone without those hench getting any higher than they got while doing that. And I've never seen a hench level above me myself. They are usually several levels lower than you.
Finding a group is dependent upon your personality. There are a lot of people in the game and they can be selective who they choose to bring with them. Most form friendships and guilds so they don't have much need to pick up random strangers, particularly later in the game. But I've never had trouble getting into a group, and if I do have trouble, the henchmen are competent and work pretty well. That does change later in the game, when monsters will own henchmen, and you'll need a pretty tight group of people using strategy, but then, that's the point. And by then you should have plenty of friends and/or a guild that you can party with.
