APB: Reloaded: v1.5 and Big Plans for the Week

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

The APB Reloaded team has announced some BIG plans for the upcoming week in the latest developer blog. If all goes well, v1.5 will hit servers this week with a character wipe. In addition, once v1.5 goes live, all players who applied for closed beta testing will be invited to help test out the new version which will ultimately be the open beta client.

Q -Why will you not invite me before 1.5?

A - because we have ALREADY tortured and abused 25,000 people (or more exactly the 20,399 people who properly activated their closed beta characters) and now we REALLY want people to experience (and TEST) version 1.5 more than anything else, since that version is so different (and improved) from 1.4.x versions. So no point in having more people in 1.4.x, when we REALLY need you in 1.5. The priority is to get everyone else who completed the beta app in to 1.5 while it's in Closed Beta, and after that, open up the Open Beta and invite the full original 150,000 who registered an interest, and after that slowly open this up to the world.

I just hope with 1.5, they can get rid of the lag and the hackers (Especially the Aimbots.).

When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there!

Sorry to say the chances of getting rid of AIMBOTS is slim to none.

You can get rid of the sloppy kids that try free AB but the paid ones will keep 1 step ahead like they do in all games.

Oh man this looks great! One problem. Can we *please* Do away with the GamersFirst DM and pando media booster installs for this an have a stand-alone download or torrent release? Pando Media Booster is a well-known bandwith hogger and even when you aren't actively downloading something, it's using a portion of your bandwith.

The GamersFirst (A knock off of EADM) is just bulky and unecessary, especially if you're using Pando. Use one or the other, but not both.

Also, uninstalling APB is very awkward. It doesn't remove itself from the registry properly, so you have to manually delete the registry keys.

Global Agenda is way better and pretty much does no good to aimbot or hack....

Do you have to buy it? Otherwise, it's already not better by default =P.

Global Agenda looks like crap, doesn't have proper vehicles, has an even MORE archaic shooting model than APB, and is massively MORE instanced per player than APB. Not to mention the level of customizability in APB completely stomps all over Global Agenda with a pair of size 13 military camo boots.

Oh, and GA is FILLED with aimbotters. Last month alone the Global Agenda client for Artificial Aiming hit 400 concurrent users. They love bragging about how awesome their hacks are to everyone, and how many actually use what in who's game.

Sorry to destroy your world of falsities m8 :'(.

Ok just saying...APB customization is leaps and bounds ahead of other games.  Im sure quite a bit of people were playing APB just for the customization aspects.

Funny how people keep bragging about the "A-team" van when the devs said specifically at GDC that "...anyone using copyright content designs such as the "A-team" vans for example, will be wiped at launch..."

That's in reference to the designs being wiped by the way. it should be a no-brainer that replicating copyright material is a no-no. Just look at the problems CoX went through when it first launched and the lawsuits they had to go through which resulted in players not being allowed to replicate copyright characters a few years ago.

I dont think that is related to open beta at all. You might get an email from them with a link to a place to create your open beta once it goes live but by definition open beta is open to anyone who wants to try it.

Closed Beta you had to apply for ages ago and even then 90% of the people who got invitations are still waiting for their activations so they can join the testing.
