I bought GA last year from Steam and got into the game pretty good. Of course coming off of a old school game called Tribes, I just had to play this game.
The game manage to hold my interest for 4 months which isn't bad and felt I got my moneys worth from HR.
Anyways,
I return to see whats going on with the game and see alot of veterans being rude and arrogant to new players due to the F2P.
All I can say is WOW! If your going to hate the new player base, I would'nt blame the newbies, but HR themselves.
The newbies were getting torched on questions when asked. I felt so bad for them..

Ya people tend to forget that we all have to start somewhere. They were noobs once as well. It ticks me off seeying advance players putting down not so advance players.
Has nothing to do with F2P. There have been alot of aholes in city chat for quite some time. Also the game is mostly PvP and PvP games attract people who want to act this way and think they are funny because they laugh at their own bad jokes.
It's been like that since I first played the game.
Sadly it's the state of communities in all mmos right now. If you think it's going to get any better get ready for a slap in the face called reality. I had a account for this game a couple of years ago and decided last week to give it a shot. First thing I noticed was the ease of leveling by yourself and the auto group system for PvP and PvE. It helps because the game isn't too deep as far as mmoRPGs go, so ignoring the gen chat is not hard to do.
Also I noticed I had a coupon for 50% a one time purchase that was sitting on my account for about a year. So I used it to get the game and 3 months worth of boost. So any "vets" playing probably got the game dirt cheap themselves. And I find it funny that they would be acting all high and mighty about a B2P game anyway.
"Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas."
I have to agree for the most part. FPS players, on average, are more aggressive and prone to delusions of superiority. As far as communities go however, turn off local and city and the game is great. I found early on that once you get into a match and say hello into the game's on board VOIP feature most people are very ready to be helpful.
Most "normal" people are fine there are just a bunch of attention whores in /City chat. Teenagers and and 20 year olds attention whoring? Impossibl!e .
It does have to be said though that the pre-30 pvp tier can be very bad, people often just don't know what they are doing. The gameplay is sufficiently good that inexperienced people just don't quite do well and it can be very frustrating when you are the only person going after turrets.
I finally got my assult to to 30 the other day and leveled up in PvP matches and some weeny is telling me to stay on point while 3 turrets are tearing everyone up. End of match I have triple the bot kills because I am the only one killing turrets.
Same thing as recon you get people who just don't understand EVERYONE should kill turrets. Yes recons take point on turrets but if you expect recons to just solo everything your will probably lose. A good team in the upper levels swarms turrets and robo and tries comprehensively denial.
Of course this happen in post 30 to its just much worse and more annoying pre 30. They stand on point and let a flame turret kill them rather then jumping off and all focus fire the thing. Even after I put an EMP bomb on it they just stand on point and die. The time I managed to solo the flame turret and its robo we won that point. Of course I had no help on the guy and he was the only reason that team won. And what do the jobbers say "Recon why aren't you shattering the point?", yeah because I am level 38 not 44. You gotta use shatter as a crutch? come on just focus the damn thing. I frigging stunned it for 6 seconds for you.
Thankfully, city chat is not a reflection of the entire community. Even some of the people who joke around in city chat are extremely helpful one-on-one or in the game's voice chat. Of course there are still the trolls and disgruntled teens you will find anywhere. Shooter games seem to promote e-peen syndrome a little more than most but who cares? I make my avatar look like a total jack ass and have fun.
Your experience is as good as you make it, ignore them if they bother you. Turn off city chat, start friend listing people. Join an agency. The game is far more enjoyable if you operate within an agency or a group of friends and it is advantageous.
GA has a lot of decent people playing it. Despite how it may seem on the surface, it is a pretty diverse playerbase and not made up solely of morons.

sorry for all of you that you say that the GA has community. 6 days player and even in guild i was totally ignored for 2 days (i left after, no reason to stay).
PLUS that the free players can not buy from auction house or trade, makes the game unplayable.
