DAOC is really hard to get into now, i wouldn't personally, probally die soon anyways.
Everquest is easier than ever to get into, still has 400k people. Nice golden oldie.
WOW copies other mmorpgs and makes everything way too easy, no economy no player housing and a crap pvp, plus bad community really ruins it! Warcraft name is why it's popular.
Everquest 2, mite aswel try it! To me it's EQ but alot easier, only fun if your pc can handle it tho
Obviously you already know a good deal about DAoC and EQ. If you are happy in EQ by all means play that. However, if you haven't tried them and you're jonesing for something new, I would also recommend EQ II or WoW. They are also both quite good. EQ II is casual and solo player freindly, but still has more depth than WoW. It also has an amazingly rich (but also amazingly repetitive) crafting system. WoW is not as deep as any of the others you mention, but playing WoW is like receiving oral sex while shooting up heroin every time you play for about the first two months. It's just that fun and addictive. Unfortuinately, it gets very stale once the newness of it wears off.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
eq one is the best then eq2 follows... all the rest dont compare :P
Awesome
all three are great games and i would take any of tehm i have played them all and tehy are all alot of fun. everquest is getting as little old and is hard to get to teh end game but still is good. wow is fun i left daoc for it but eventually went back to daoc.
Everquest 2: Spellman Wolfrunner, 22nd Warden. Everquest 1: Spellmen Wolfrunner 43rd Druid. Planetside: Shotmeister of the Terran Republic
First, let me qualify this by saying I have Station Access, so I play them all. The graphics in EQ1 have been substantially upgraded as of last year. They can now pass for maybe...a 2 year old game. Well, the character models anyway. Old world content still looks pretty old. Finding NPCs in EQ1 is now just as easy as EQ2 as they added an NPC search feature. Personally, I like both EQ1 and 2 for different reasons. EQ1 feels more epic and is definitely tougher, but more rewarding. EQ2 is faster paced and more action filled, with quests taking no more than 15 minutes to half an hour each in the early levels.
I chose EQ2 as the funnest. To tell you the truth, I love all the games listed.
EQ was the best game ever... and i mean ever. It will never be topped or outdone, but then a crushing blow came to it known as the Planes of Power. It took out the size of the world, and made alot of the old world zones useless. Needless to say the Scars of Luclin wasn't very healthy for it either. *sigh* The eq i knew and loved is no longer with us today. The community will never be topped. /moment of silence
-----edit----- Just so ya know, i played EQ from release all the way to 2003. Was my first and favorite MMORPG ever. Probably my favorite game of all time as well. Cheers
EQ2 Is a great game! The combat is intense and fast paced. The heroic oppourtunities are amazingly fun, the quests are very very immersive. Great community.
WoW. Loved it, fast gameplay. Fun untill you hit level 60. Horrible community, though, I would swear there was about 75% of the community under 15.
Never really played DAoC, dont have much of an opinion there. (only played the 7 day trial)

PLEASE SOE MAKE A CLASSIC EQ SERVER. Shadow of luclin was a prick in EQs side. PoP Was a gun to the face.
I loved EQ for years, I am playing WoW now, and I played DAoC for a while at launch. I haven't played EQ2, so I can't comment on that either way.
If you wouldn't be starting from scratch, either EQ or DAoC would probably still be good bets. WoW is a great game for the time-challenged and the extremely casual player, but no so much for the serious MMORPGer . (I like WoW, but if I were playing more than an hour or two at a time, I think I'd have gotten tired of it and gone back to EQ.)
EQ has changed over time, and while I was upset by some of the "dumbing down, " I haven't really seen anything much better in any of the games I've tried (which would be most of the big ones).
