OK, so I downloaded and played Rift during the free weekend (as documented here) and I felt that it was good enough to try further, but no way near good enough to be worth it as my 1st subscription MMO. Well I just got a small cash injection to get a new graphics card & a bit extra to get a 30-day time card for Rift; and I just want to know if it's possible to play Rift with just the time card & the client already installed on my PC from the free weekend and without having to fork over £29.99 for the disc?

No
I was just going to leave no as my answer because I thought the question was absurd but here is a little better of an answer. You can play with the client installed on your machine without having to reinstall it but you need to buy a copy of the game, either physical box or digital download for the key.
But if you're asking whether you can bypass buying a key then please refer to my original answer.
So you like the game...
... but not enough to BUY it.
Interesting...
As with all MMOs, you're buying the code to add to your account. The disk is pretty well irrelevant.

"People love groups. Its a fallacy that people want to play solo all the time." - Scott Hartsman, Executive Producer, Rift
Awww... well that sucks. Just don't wanna fork out £30 on a game that I know I won't play for more than 30 days. So unless the price of a copy drops to at least £15 in a couple months, then I won't even bother. Or maybe I'll just nick a key from the store. Another reason why I love Guild Wars 2... it appeals to cheap assholes like me. :P
