Performance problems

Masa1Masa1 Member UncommonPosts: 318

This game has some serious performance problems. You can basically see it anywhere:

  • During character creation when you switch something (for example hair style) there is 1-2s loading time.

  • When you change zone it gets even worse: About 1 minute loading time.

  • During normal gameplay it's really hard to get decent FPS. At worst it was 5 FPS with max graphic setting. Naturally that forced me to change settings. At lowest graphic settings FPS was only ~30.

All that was archieved with fairly decent computer:

Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) 9650 Quad-Core Processor,  MMX,  3DNow (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz

Memory: 3328MB RAM

Just a side note: You definitely don't have to sign NDA during account creation. I don't remember seeing it during installation either.

I know a lot of games (even MMORPGs) which only take advantage of 1 core: All of they have better graphics/animations than Faxion Online. And.. All of them run with at least 40 FPS if not max.

My graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series. Should be more than enough for this game.

The game is still actively in development.  Graphics aren't yet optimized and the settings aren't all enabled (for example, there's no setting for anti-aliasing and the low-med-high texture settings don't do anything.

Also, I run the game using AA 4x on a 4 year old laptop with a GeForce GO 7900 GS 256 MB and 2GB system RAM. The game generally runs between 15 adn 40 FPS for me, depending where I am in game and what's going on around me. In general, the devs have stated they want users with the minimum specs to get around 25 FPS (I believe, I'd have to find the quote).

Personally, I wonder if the Catalyst drivers have issues with the game - it's not uncommon . Every month when new Catalyst drivers come out, they're's almost always a reference to a fix for a couple of specific games...

Patch 1.53 has resolved the graphic performance problem I had. Also, using the suggestion from another thread helped beforehand.
