Site down? Or moved?

nolfnolf Member UncommonPosts: 869

So I've been having a case of the ho-hums when it comes to video games lately.  Like many of the raging masses here, I'm an NGE refugee, and have never truly found a home.  Bored the with the current crop I've been playing, I decided maybe, just maybe I'll sub for a month to SWG with the transfers coming up and such, it seems like a good time to see what they've done with the NGE in the years since I left.

Curiosity and boredom were getting the best of me.  Until I went to the game's main site, and it has been down for at least 15 hours.

Is it moved from the starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com address?  Is the game still up and running?  What's the deal?

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

Site is down for 15 hours and no one even notices. That doesn't speak good of the game :P

    Weird.

That is odd.  I'd think network software would have detected a failure.

I know right?!  I don't know how long its been down, I just know it was around the afternoon time yesterday when I started checking.  I was surprised then that there weren't any threads going on this, but when I came back this morning, I was shocked there were still none.

Is the station or SWG site on Amazon's cloud?  I know that went down unexpectedly.  I wonder what's going on......it feels like a sign saying "stay awaaaay stay awaaaaay!"

Just remembered that I heard something about the PlayStation Network being down for a few days. Could be to do with that.

only weeks ago they announced massive staff layoffs,

Maybe their in such bad shape they cant afford the server bills lol

That's why I'm wondering if the game is still kickin!

That would make sense.  I know sony in general has been having some understandable problems as of late.

i thought that soe had some Emergency Maintenance, everything was down. i couldn't get on the EQ2 website "We're undergoing a scheduled maintenance" and it is still down.

  • massicksmassicks Member Posts: 46

Same deal here - been trying to get on the EQ2 website since last night, still down now......

  • erictlewiserictlewis Member UncommonPosts: 3,022

They are under maintenance and have been since Thursday.  I had to actually go to station.com click  on the game and get to the forums that way.

So I am not sure what is going on with the forums but is just not swg, or eq2.

I turned in a petition so we will see what happens.

    Weird.

They know and are working on it. Lots of updates on both twitter and facebook (EQ2 for me, but I guess all other SOE games will have the same info on both media).

Yeah the layoffs are affecting the progress of the Agency and apparently the new PlanetSide: Next which supposedly should have been announced this month.

Been down for days not hours.  Supposedly being updated by the producer.   They took it down when they announced the FCT.   Im sure it will be up before the big move on Tues.

Are the game servers still live?

Yeah, you can just get on the games... don't need the websites for that.

Enough so that it was cancelled (though it was in trouble for a while before the layoffs).

I am not so sure they will be back up myself. I do hope they keep the forums going though... I won't use Facebook or Twitter, so here's to hoping the forums will be back up soon.
