If you ever get tierd of mass zerging, join an organzied outfit. By organzied i dont just mean they run squads and platoons, im talking about galaxy drops, squad objectives and command communication. I was part of the enclave on emerald (OMG enclave!??? kill him!!) and being in an organized outfit like that is what made it worth it. I tried playing solo but it just inst as fun. I quit when the enclave disbanned, came back when it joined again, and quit again when it's leader got banned (For telling Dan B that he hopes he would die in a fire stupid ****ing jew)
Im pretty sure when i say, people who full-out hate Planetside hasnt played enough. When you sit there on the battlefield as a meagre grunt, surrounded by explosions, gunfire and tanks. Its amazing, but it requires some hardware to handle these days. Or when during a base siege, you arrive as an AI MAX, seeing your "softie" friends camping outside, you just take a chance and walk right in causing much +backing and panick reloads. All the while you target some thumper spammers and make sure they stay down to allow the zerg inside.
I agree the BFRs was an unecessary addition, time could very well have been spent on making the engine dx9 and more userfriendly.
Besides, they are making the engine DX9 compatible in the 3.8 patch .. that will probably make it easier to track down and fix most of the old peformance issues.
Still keeps coming back to Planetside when i see the grindfests in other MMO:s

I agree. Compared to other MMOs (RPGs) PS is lightning fast. You dont need time to prepare, camp find group or do anything else, you login, you get into action right away. I used to be hardcore MMORPGer, but as I look back I see myself playing less and less of those MMORPGs and playing more and more PS. I have a total of 5 chars that are 20+ (none are 23 though) spread out through all the empires so I have a variaty of style i can play - meat-shield, grunt, driver, scout, BFR whore u name it What I realy wish SOE would do is advertise this damn game. After being for so long on the market its not being advertised! I myself found out about the game from a store clerk who at that time was playing it. I would of never found out about it and missed out on so much fun. 2 years passed, and PS still has this fresh feeling and I love to play this game whenever I can.
IMO WWIIO is too slow and requires longer play sessions, which don't fit with my schedule. WWIIO also runs fairly poor and ctds regularly when playing.
Planetside is more my thing and allows plenty enough strategy with a good outfit, which I've found!

Since getting SamHayne as the new producer, patches have been solid, the player-base has been actually listened-to from time to time, and performance has increased.
And for reference, I've played non-stop since closed beta.

word ... exactly my thoughts. I dont see this game dying anytime soon ... those of you logged onto Emerald last night, especially TR, would know Thx to all cr5:s making that huge ass battle possible.
I have a fraps recording from last night showing TR gathering in sanctuary ... 5 BFRs, 10 or so prowlers, bunch of AMS and a totally black sky from all the flyers. Gave me chills of satisfaction seeing this game can still muster up forces we had on release.

I don't understand why people complain about Planetside not having a point. What point does any game have? Entertainment. I play because when I log off, I was entertained. Everytime I play there is a unique battle that my outfit and I work together to do our best to win. True there is no real point to the battles, no war to win, but who cares?
What is the point of everquest? Killing MOB's and looting imaginary equipment. Getting levels that have no real meaning. What is important is whether you are having fun, level 1 or 100.
What is the meaning of solving quests that thousands of others have solved before you or will after you?
It's clear that you haven't understood PS if you say that it's a boring game. try it again...change YOUR game stile and enter in a good outfit, you won't regret it .
I've been playing for almost 2 years now, and have never found this game boring. Frustrating yes, boring no. The community and my outfit has kept me going on and on, and I don't plan to quit. You act like Planetside got into the top 5 through some sort of fluke chance, but I think it just shows how dedicated the fans who do play the game are.

There is 1 FPS on the TOP 7.
I can tell you there are more FPS shooters fans then there are roleplayers.
My personnal interest toward those FPS is indeed quite limited, but I wish them good luck.

Best MMOFPS was Endless Ages in Beta and early gold, now its just horrible. Planetside i played for a few months but just got dull to quick
Endless Ages? Are you smoking crack? Endless Ages is a joke of a game. Why do you think nobody is playing it? It has graphics that look 2D, blocky and to be about 5years behind the times. It's game play sucks, the GUI is poorly designed...OMG, etc, etc, etc. Please...to say that EA is better than PS is so far out there it makes me think you have never even played PS.

I think what anarchyart was trying to say is any attitude that is not resisting to what psdood69 said is a comment in support. Its like if someone murdered someone and youd say "Well, @#it happens. I don't understand why people complain about Planetside not having a point. What point does any game have? Entertainment. I play because when I log off, I was entertained. Everytime I play there is a unique battle that my outfit and I work together to do our best to win. True there is no real point to the battles, no war to win, but who cares?
What is the point of everquest? Killing MOB's and looting imaginary equipment. Getting levels that have no real meaning. What is important is whether you are having fun, level 1 or 100.
What is the meaning of solving quests that thousands of others have solved before you or will after you?
