Swordsman: Req- lvl 10+, 35+ str
    + Strong
    + Good defense
    + Variety of weapons
    - No ranged weapons
    - Not very high dex, leading to a huge range in damage (unless your stupid and don't add str and only dex)
    - ...early armors look pretty gay
    Sub-classes-
Fighter: Amazing attacking ability, but weak against magic
Page: Lower attack str, but skills that help them lower enemy strength
Spearmen: Longer range than the other two; higher defense; slow

Magician: Req- lvl 8+, 20+ Int
+ High magic attack damage at later lvls
    + Strong Spells
    + Lower req. lvl
    - Harder class to get to, due to low attack as a beginner
    - Can't wear heavy armor
    - Low defense
    Sub-classes-
    Wizard(Fire/Poison): Higher damage/ poisons enemies
Wizard(Ice/Lightning): Can temporarily freeze enemies/ Area damage
Cleric: Support magic, Heal, High damage v. Undead

Bowman: Req- lvl 10+, 25+ dex
    + Long-range attacks
+ High avoidability, due to high dexterity
+ Able to use light swords, axes, and blunt weapons
    - Weak at close range
    - Can't wear heavy armor
    Sub-classes-
Hunter: Fast; not as strong as Crossbowman
Crossbowman: Strong; not as fast as Hunter

Thief: Req- lvl 10+, 25+ dex
    + Can use daggers(close range) or stars(long-range)
    + Fast
    + High avoidability
    + Highly-adaptable
    - Light armor
    - Not as strong as the warrior or bowman
    Sub-classes-
Assassin: Very fast, long-range attacks; Some support skills; Not as skilled as the Bowman classes with long-range
Bandit: High-avoidability; Uses either a high-damage dagger or a very fast dagger; Has steal ability and other useful skills; Not as skilled as the Swordsman classes at close-range

My characters a swordsman, but(being new), you should use a thief since their the most adaptable class.

Warrior is the best for noobs.

Bowman would also be a good choice, if you're lucky enough to find arrows, which are really easy.

WHATEVER YOU DO, NEVER BECOME A MAGE OR THEIF FIRST CLASS.

    1.  They level real slow.

    2.  They have low HP, meaning you'll die fast.

    3.  They are expesive(I won't go into detail)

Bowman are more expensive than thief, because the thiefs can become dagger thiefs instead of throwing stars/knives. But, I admit, Swordsman are a safe choice too. And, as WindrunnerX stated, never become a mage first, until you get used to the game or make friends that you can hunt with at the beginning. Mages are really, really weak toward the beginning.

Warrior's is good at high lvl 50 - 70.. They are also good at lower lvls but Mages are prolly a bit stronger (the Wizards not Clerics)

Bowmans gets very strong around lvl 50 Crossbowman does high damage...

Assasin is as good as clercis around lvl 30 but then they get better and at lvl 40 they are good

Bandits is weak at lvl 30 - 40 but at lvl 40 they own..

If u gonna start the game go with a warrior. This is because a dagger theif is weaker than warrior and a star theif is xpensive. MAGES LVL EASIEST FROM LIKE LVL 8-40(UNLIKE WAT THAT GUY SAID EARLIER) This is simply because they do the most damage. At around lvl 45 all classes pass them out. If you gonna play the game for long and you are patient with lvlin go with a warrior, bowman, dagger thief and even a star theif (only if u gonna be playing for long) If you gonna be playing for long u can also pic cleric but fire mages and ice mages are weaker later on in the game. Trust me. Unlike most of these guys I have alot of xperience with high lvl chars.

It really doesnt matter what you choose, but they are all really good. I prefer Magicians of Theives. They may be hard to lvl until the first job advancment, but they are really good and strong later on. I have a lvl 72 priest, 69 assassian, and a lvl 87 dragonknight.

Magicians level up slowly to begin with, but gain massive power. They are arguably the best class in the game since they also have a healing sub-class that doubles as an anti-undead cleric, alongside a fire/poison and an ice/lightning sub-classes.

In my opinion,a warrior > spearman is a nice choice if you're going down the warrior path. The sheer range of the spears/polearms allow for some ridiculously easy camp spots,at least as far as my level 22 has seen. They even hit some spots the ranged classes cannot from direct LOS.  Like just below or just above yourself. Works wonders sometimes, but yes their damage does vary wildly. At the moment I can hit somewhere between 1-150 on enemies using normal polearm swings.

However, they wont be fast killers due to the slow weapon speed,so against faster enemies you will be jumping a lot over their heads (if possible). But dragon knights are meant to be a HUGE payoff.

I would probably recommend either a warrior or an archer as a starting class. If you can hack it,choose a mage but it's very tough going to begin with, but the payoff is massive later.
