So guys, of all games you've played what class you had the most fun with? And why?
My personal choice would be hunter in WoW. Very dynamic, tons of skills to handle any situation, very strong solo and in Battlegrounds, pets for additional flexibility. And I love kiting stuff.
Honorable mention goes to burglar in LoTRO. It is far less dynamic, but more strategic - have to choose positioning, use many cooldowns, and with lots of stuns and tricks you can get some great figths against elite mobs.

A long time ago I carried a poison katana on UO. It was my favorite time.
Being a 100% opinion answer I usually prefer playing character than can hit & move. All time though... Everquest Ranger. Any and all skills in any games I played after it on a bow and arrow type character, I've used the same or variations of tactics used by my ranger. Any ranged with a speed boost or mob control, I prefer. If it can be slowed or distracted, it'll NEVER touch me.
Mesmer from Guild Wars. Few classes are as powerful as this one when used right and so useless when played wrong. This class would fall into a control role - a spellcaster. It uses abilities to hinder or completely shutdown its enemies for both offense and defense. Mesmer deals with clever hexes (curses), interrupting abilities and manipulating its own and its enemies' energy (mana). Nothing as crude and simple as putting enemies to sleep or charming them in place with a single skill. It is much more subtle than that. It is mainly used as an anti-caster character but it can easily ruin the attack attempts of more martial characters aswell. Very rewarding class to play if you succeed, very frustrating if you don't.
Some characters that come close to resembling a Mesmer are Witch Hunter from WAR and Psionicist from Vanguard.
Mesmers are masters of illusion and control, subverting the enemy’s Energy for their own use, and that of their allies. Combined with any other profession, their skills provide excellent support, turning enemies’ powers against them and changing the very fabric of reality to hinder foes and help allies. Mesmers have the ability to cast spells quickly, which can make all the difference in the heat of battle. Their powers of domination allow them to take control of enemy skills and Energy. Their unique illusionary talents can slow or even halt enemy movement and skill casting, or cause imaginary illnesses that drain Health and Energy from foes while healing and energizing allies. While Mesmers are not known for brute strength, their ability to confuse, distract, and drain the enemy’s resources more than compensates.-Guild Wars Manuscripts

what a coincidence with the OP, when i first saw the title of the post WoW's hunter popped up to my mind.... very fun class plus it does 2 really nice things that makes it unique (i havent seen that anywhere else) which are the feign death and the ability to tame almost any wild animal as a pet..... other mmos including new ones limit the archer class to a couple of pets (summoned by skill intead of taming them) and that kills the class right away....
edit: perfect world international's Venomancer class do tame almost any animal too but its feels crappy compared to WoW's hunter in every sense of the word
actually that sounds like something GW got from EQ1. it was the enchanter of EQ1 that really solidified the role of a CC/charm/debuffer in MMO's. and yes, it's the hardest class to play right, and when played right, they are absolutly godly. it's too bad there were too many "good" enchanters, which made SoE nerf the entire class out of existance.
Feign death was from EQ monks, and taming/charming pets is from EQ enchanters:p
old school eq ...loved every class monk cleric wizz enchanter druid shadow knight! i could keep going but you get my point..i loved all of eq's classes / builds
ah i didnt know because ive never been a EQ fan (only played eq2x for a little while)
EQ1 Bard
having so many tools(songs) at your disposal..
being a jack of all trades..
song weaving
super fast speed
the most fun class Ive ever played to date.
In EQ chanters had a form of feign death too, if I remember correctly, its been a long time, but one of my best in game friends was a chanter. EQs paladin is probably my favorite class, with WoWs ret paladin comming in second, I have loved the idea of paladins since my Advanced D&D days and very few MMoRPGs seem to get them right(DAoC for example) considering trying Rifts paladin soul.
Godz of War I call Thee
Also f I was asked about the most unique class, Id call Bard in Vanguard. You need to compose songs (which buff character and his group) from different fragments and there are thousands of combinations to make unique song. Never seen such class mechanics in any other MMORPG
This, pretty much. I've never seen any class in any other game remotely similar to the Mesmer class of Guild Wars. If you think it's about buffs, debuffs, and crowd control, you've missed the point of the class. Plenty of other games have mentalist or illusion themed classes, but the game mechanics are not at all similar to the mesmer class of Guild Wars.
Basically, if a mesmer knows what you're going to do and can plan his build around it, he can shut you down and handily destroy you. And if he sets a build that doesn't counter what you're doing at all (say, anti-caster harassment skills against a melee class) or simply doesn't use the proper skills at the proper times, then he can, well, stand there and die. Which class you are and what you're trying to do actually doesn't matter that much in that analysis.
DAOC shadowblade - pre Left Axe nerf
My most fun class would have to be a Robotics character in Global Agenda. Never had more fun in an MMO then when I was playing one of those. Depending on my spec I could be on the top of the damage list, or I could be one of the biggest proponents to winning a match by staying on the point and tossing up shields and healing those around me.
Robotics characters are the movers and shakers of GA, and a well played one is definitely the difference between pass or fail.
Perhaps thats a little bit of a cop out though, as GA is hub based (like GWs) but if I had to choose a more persistent world MMO class, I loved my Nature Character in DCUO, and my Scrapper in CoX, and was rather fond of my BH/Rifle/CH character in SWG.
EQ Bard - Played lots of EQ classes and this one was the most fun.
WOW Druid - Loved the flexibility of changing forms within combat cat(dps)/bear(tank)/normal|tree(healing). Great soloing plus fits into any group for any role.
SWG bounty hunter easily!
The player bounty system was like nuffin I had encountered and never since (I'm sure its there, but just havent played any game with it). My favorite build was either BH/pistoleer (great fun!) or BH/combatmedic (also fun coz I could actuall kill any jedi haha). I know some jedi did see it as a system of griefing, but most of my bounties would /w me afterwards saying things like being hunted was the biggest thrill of any game!
Current: BDO
Looking forward to: Crowfall & Chronicles of Elyria
daoc critblade - before SI and before the damn buffbots ruined the RvR for me.
Loved it to sneak into castles, 1-hit sitting casters and run for my life dodging a storm of arrows.
There was even a time at the beginning of this game, when you onehit someone you dont lose stealth ... oh that was fun :-)
EQOA Alchemist,my favorite/funnest class that i played.very hard to play , just because of an odd mechanic in eqoa. in eqoa thrown and bow weapons costed 10% of mana per shot/throw so went out of mana extremely fast, 10 auto attacks and you'd be oom.the alchemists over came this by drinking a poison that would almost insta fill thier mana but hurt their hp, but with poison resistance it wouldn't hurt as much. Alchemists wore leather (to protect them from thier corrosive/burning potions/experiments) was a caster but also a bower (kinda) type.potion was considered like a bow dmg so they needed bow stats and not caster as much.they did cast spells but relied on potion dmg more. they made potions and threw them at mobs, specialized in more of AoE abilities. they had so much utility to them it was crazy.
they made potions that could be traded to other players like SoW (100% run speed buff) potions, deisease cures, poison cures, arcane resistance buff.self only potions like invis and the mana regen/poisions, direct dmg pots,DoT pots,AoE pots. used fire, ice, poison and lightning spells, also had ac debuff (corrosive acid eats the armor). used to make a rez pill too that could be traded and people could self rez with it, but didn't reduce exp debt so didn't get used much so they changed it to a stone that had 3 charges could cast on players or themselves that gave 6,000 health and mana. could only make the stone once an hour tho, and it dissapeared from inventory if you logged out.
they had specialized classes, alchemists was Transmutor or Metabolist.Transmuters made Ogre pills that was a nice Tank buff, people ate it and gave str, stam, agi and 1250 hp,also healed for teh 1250 hp it gave also turned them into an Ogre for an hour i think the buff lasted. also made a Rat potion, was a really good debuff one of the best in the game, debuffed the mobs hp,str, agi, dex, stam and turned the mob into a rat.
Metabolists made these pills that could be traded to players that was a really nice stackable HoT heal , hit for like 650 per tick and was doubled the first tick. think thier other "ability" was a passive buff to hp,wisdom (bow stat for some reason) dex, poison resistance and MAYBE -int. if it did its because alcs was better off with as low of a power pool as possible so poison pots filled more of a % per drink since potion throws was a % based thing and not set amount.also made thier natural mana regen tick for more of a % so they could get more than the 10 throws per mana bar. mine was so low i could get 13 throws per bar because of the hi regen to low pool.
Mesmer is definitely up there for me as well. Ritualist was also a lot of fun.
Some other classes I thoroughly enjoyed from other games included Druid from WoW as well as Tanker, Warshade and Controller from City of Heroes.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
Scripter in SecondLife. You pretty much dominate builds, make stuff come to life, are an advisor, and get some of the biggest cuts in collaboration projects.
Dervish in Guildwars. You can dynamically build your character up and down in combat through clever use of enchantments. Also as you build yourself down you can spike damage/conditions pretty freely. I actually loved playing the "middle rank" tank, crowd controller, and terenary damage dealer.
Adept in The Cronicles of Spellborn. Pretty much your front line guy. But have some awesome risk verses reward "stances" which were basically a perment buff that would do good things if you were good, bad if you were bad. For instance if you sucessfully hit a target you incure slight bleeding damage(stacking), when you miss you got that bleeding damage.
Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent.

I actually found the warden class in LOTRO very fun to play. The gambit system felt like a uniquely different playstyle from anything else I had played before for any other mmo.
It was a lot more than combo points where it boils down to mashing combo generating abilities then using a finisher. It required actual thought, planning, and practice to properly execute the right combination of skills to get the right gambit depending on your situation. It also helped that the class could both either fill the role of a tank or DPS, which is always nice to have some flexibility in role.
I'd still be playing LOTRO if it weren't for the whole F2P conversion... oh well.
WOW Hunter was extremly fun for me. Very versatile. Taming pets is just a fun mechanic. FD/Trap allowed me to do so much stuff.
I was always mad in EQ that monks and even shadowknights were better pullers then rangers due to FD. I always felt rangers should of been the main pullers in that game. WOW fixed this for me:)
Age of Conan's Herald of Xolti was a unique class I had fun with for awhile. 2h cloth weilding mage class melee character.
Playing as a dedicated infiltrator in planetside was both the most fun and most infuriating class I've played in any game.
Had a similar experience with CH in SWG, possibly you need those lows to sweeten those highs

Vanguard Bard and Everquest Bard stick out as unique classes. I have always hoped someone would do something clever like Vanguard did with the Bard to improve a class that's been around awhile in some MMOs.
Played Druid in EQ a lot, soloability and general versatility was awesome.
In WoW I'd have to go with the Druid just because shapeshifting and the sheer difference between the forms was pretty awesome. All the other classes in WoW felt like they had roots in other games classes while the Druid was more unique to WoW in it's implementation.
