Fellow Gamers,
I've included this survey here in the Role Play group, because its what inspired most of us to play MMO's or RPGs, but frankly RPG's seem more like games without the role play, but what if there was a game mechanic that made your MMORPG more like a Role Play Session? What if you found a game just like that? Would you play it? Well.... thats not what the survey is built to figure out,. Its just a humble start at building a story about the MMO space that publishers have ignored. I hope you'll participate in the survey.
Social Deviation, a gaming company founded by gamers for gamers, is launching the first of several rounds of Surveys at the MMO space.
I have an interest in finding all gamers, and seeing what makes them tick. I'm interested in Mobile Games, and the advent of Location Based Games. This survey is the first of a series where I'm trying to learn about us as a market, and if there are any mechanics that Social Deviation can include in the format to make it more engaging for all the types of players, RPG, Adventure, Elite/Hardcore, and Social bases.
Please take a look at the survey, I value what you think.

Completed the survey.
I'd add that Story is a big part of MMOs to play through (even if it is a dungeon-crawler PvE should always evolve this), I think the option was missing in one of the questions "Why do you play?".
Also "Why did you stop playing?" => Grind Design in a lot of mmos > Gameplay; Rules > Creativity are perhaps in my mind the most pressing reason. Why play if it's not fun, requires navigating large amounts of inertia and is set in stone?
Gluck with your developments; you probably already have plenty of ideas, but as touch, gesture and esp. voice-to-text are all technologies "coming" to smartphones any of those might be of interest (esp. voice-to-text for RP)?

Thanks for the feedback!
Story, Fun, and New elements to the mobile handset. Gotcha.
Nice idea about the dictation to RP. I have dragon dictation dl'd and I've toyed with it, but I hadn't begun to think about its applications to game play, granted I'll be frank, there are a ton of applications that would make RPing a more interesting expereince if they were all brought into the same application, and seamlessly interconnected so it was easy for the user to move between them in game.
Touch and Gesture are ideas formenting in development studios already as mechanics, and we'll probably see them before long.
I'm signed up for one of the beta's of a game thats being developed in Finland. Location Based, Symbol writing on the iphone to cast spells. So the ideas are there. Its just a question of what conglomerate of ideas will make a storm.

Shadow cities, yes that's interesting with the location+gestures (beerineteering without the booze?!). Runes (Android, french devs) is also interesting gesture swipes. Here's Spacetime Studios summary at GDC (the actual vid It's in the vault but members only access) by Massively.
GDC 2011: Spacetime pontificates on pocket MMOs They pretty much stress fun too (I'm glad to say!).
Here's a list of mmobiles I previously made for completion. B* should be very interesting as it's multiplatform over one server (lots of instances) but it's workable with a pc client also (not released).
-------------
1. POCKET LEGENDS
2. World of Magic
3. Empire Online
4. Yslandia
5. Seven Swords
6. Graal Online
7. Anrufen
8. Dungeon defenders
9. Outer Empires
& incoming:
1. BLACKSTAR (ONLY SCI-FI mmo with guns?) *Very promising*
2. Order & Chaos (Gameloft wow-clone v polished)
3. World of Midgard
4 World of Dragons
5. Shadow Cities
6. Highland Warrior
7.Empire of the Eclipse 8. Runes
-----------
As for your ideas, I think RP would also be innovate! Gluck.
