The Final Fantasy XIV team has released the final patch notes for v1.17a. The new version adds new quests, guild tasks, a new 'full or light' party effect and more.
Fixed Bugs
The following bugs have been addressed:
A bug wherein party member markers on the world map and minimap would sometimes shift abruptly to the lower right portion of the map.
A bug wherein faction leve rewards could be obtained repeatedly without proper expenditure of faction credits.
Measures have been taken to correct a bug wherein recovery maintenance was being obstructed following market area difficulties on all worlds due to the feature that remembers retainer locations.

Oh snap, you're right. It's already been 7 months and still the game is not good enough for a monthly sub. Probably by the time they start charging players; Tera, SW: TOR & even GW2 could be out and by then the game would have no chance.
Oh well, at least they're still trying to fix things.
The last Dev note from Yoshi talked about changes all over broad, including armoury, game content and other major changes. If they "re-release" the game as a new game, it might have a chance. Since the game graphics was just stunting.
Still awaiting the ability to download the game from their website. Guess they don't want people to come back.
After finding a setting where I can get a good framerate, the game isn't "horrible" now, especially with the market changes (though an AH is still needed). The fact that there are so few quests without the more hardcore aspects of Darkfall or Mortal Online give this game a more oldschool feel akin to Everquest, which I like. Game just needs to give players more of a reason to party up with one another.
Square still fail to see that most of the gamers don't enjoy the idea of doing the same quest more than once. Especially when it has no story behind it.

One thing I'm missing in the patchlog is the way they address the updates... My client is 'downloading' now, but will take 7 hours before it'll be done (speed close to ZERO). I can't beleave that after all these years of patching experience SE still uses this crappy system :-(
About the subs... Yes, we're in month 7 now, and I thought to give it a try once more. If you're playing it with a 'casual' mindset, FFXIV is not that bad at all...
I think they prolly got it now.... Just that the team need time to implement them. I am guessing the Grand Company updates was intended to lay the ground work for more story quests.
I really wanna see changes to the Armoury. Afterall, just can't like their current armoury system.... and that old skoo FF class system was one of my fav of all time!
However, they should get credit for not charging a fee for the game. Unlike other games like MO which is in terrible state and they have charged monthly fee since release and refused refunds.
