This is a step the majority of themepark MMOs featuring such tools haven't made. It may be due to inability or it may just be a deliverate desicion to keep each shard seperate from the rest.
Cross server is fair enough on pve servers but pvp ones definatly not and it does kill community . Suddenly I'm not liking the way this games heading . If its implimented I'll leave before it becomes like WoW . Not exactly a rage quit more I've seen how this works out and I don't like it . Think I'll try EVE and just casually play f2play games instead if this happens and wait for GW2 . Shame really I thought this game had potential but seams like it'll proberbly go down the same old route .
if you play on one of the lesser "medium" server you would see why a dungeon finder is now a must.this servers are ghostlands .
as for quick response i dunno the patch that caused the unbalance it was meant to fix is still not "fixed" and its been what 1 month+.
atm ideal set up for raid is clerics and mages.having the rest around is pointless.
I actually think merging a few servers are better.
Dungeon finders will add even more to the ghostland feeling since more people will run instances and fewer will be out in the open world.
Any game needs enough people so it feels alive and a game with rifts and invasions needs some more.
I think GW2s idea of free server transfers is right here, it might hurt the community in some ways but it also solve issues like this without any dungeon finder, people will move to thepopulated servers by themselves if they so wish.
The dungeon finder will have little effect to the actual problem, which is not being able to find a group on "medium" ghost servers containing 300 players at peak times.
You don't have to stand around yelling for groups in the city anymore, that's it -but at the bottom line you still won't find a group. Cross-server LFG or server merges/transfers must be the next step, as server-only dungeon finder won't help on low pop servers.#
If Trion really listens and give the players what they want, solving the population issues has to be the #1 priority -otherwise Rift will end up with some form of F2P/itemshop within it's first year.
You take one example of addon dungeon finder and now every change is a step closer to wow because wow has a dungeon finder?
Everyone says the devs listen to the playerbase because when things aren't working as intended or something is unbalanced with a class or mechanic...they respond quickly and throughly. Exploits, hackers, goldsellers, needed class tweaks, further client stablitiy, the list goes on....this is what Rift players are referring to.
They are not saying 'o i want a dugeon finder so this game could be like Wow.' Believe me Trion does not have a dungeon finder at the top of their priorty list.
So, if you simply don't like the idea of a dungeon finder, then discuss that. Don't act like the devs are just giving every whiner on the forums what they want when they want it...that is just a baselees accusation and not true in the least.
but it was at the top of the list..therefore they put it in their game? this is what everyone was wanting in the rift forums..of corse among other things
It's not anywhere near the top of the list. The issue has been nearly forgotten in the current complaints about OP classes and builds.
imho the dungeonfinder is SOO not needed in this game.....i find groups ALL the time within 20 minutes.....i dont see the need for it.
Even if alot of people dont find groups as easy as me, i wouldnt make the dungeon tool cross-server......people will just join up for their grind (and whine about not enough content later on too prolly) and thats it.
Why are people always in such a hurry ingame?? its just a game.....if i dont get my epic today it might drop tomorrow.
Remember its just a game, not work
Some of us have a limited time frame to do anything in game. We find the LFG tool to be a handy option. It's not about the game being work, it's about having a life, and having to go work to lol.
Fanboys like to believe that Trion is going to implement the upcoming features because "players wanted it and Trion listens". In my opinion, what's getting released now is rather the stuff that was already in developement and top of the list anyway, but hasn't made it into retail.
Going to copy anything from WoW anyway, why would they suddenly want to skip main features like guild banks, dungeon finder, addons and such? I guess they didn't meant to, all this just wasn't ready for launch -but never further away than just a patch or two, with or without players asking for it.
If Trion really listens to it's players is yet to be seen and they don't buy me with basic features shortly after launch. We can talk once they touch the hot topics raised in beta already.
Your point about the possibility that this stuff was already being developed is valid and well taken.
Your point about Trion not listening is BS. When PvPers objected to changes in the servers in the beta Trion specifically set up PvP servers to be different from PvE servers. At our, well, really, demand lol. They do listen, that's been demonstrated both by this and by changes to class abilities that were requested by the players.
to stay on topic here i for one would like rift to be more unique on thier own ideas
imo i dont think puting a buch of other peoples ideas in your games are very unique and im not talking about *x chat sytem is the same as *y chat system "for example" even though most mmo's carry the same things...every mmo is diff and unique in some way
but then again this is the norm in the " new " wave of mmorpg ...rolling with the same ol same ol and makeing money doing it
i also agree with the other post..i too think this game will become f2p sooner than later cuz of being shallow
i mean shallow 2 me ..thats just MOp but i like sandbox type mmo's and not casual playing for a few hours a day..i llike to become emerse into the world and rift does not do it for me
but those that love it happy gameing and im glad you like this mmo cuz there really isnt anything out there worth playing atm
