Spending time shooting a few nice looking screenshots doesn't compensate for the overall lack of any world design and the terrible emptyness of Nave...Sorry.

Not everyone is going to agree when it comes to games - to me the world design and "fullness" of the game is fine.

At least we agree that the screenshots are pretty nice.  image

Adding new content and places to explore in Mortal Online does. And that's what these screenshots represent.

Even more content to the well designed expansive continent of Nave.....

Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp!

The MO CM added a pic of a donkey as it appears in the testing of Dawn using the dynamic gene system (with more donkeys in the background).

He said he couldn't find any two that looked exactly alike.

Those artists really have the lighting thing down pat! The way the sunlight cuts across the trees and breaks up in different patterns is simply amazing! Only played the Alpha version so I can not speak of how the game to date is. Good job Team Mortal Artists!!

I agree - they do a really good job with the game.

I use Final Fantasy XIV for a lot of the banners on my website, because the game is just so photogenic. However, the look of the game, and its quality of content are two separate matters entirely.

Second screenshot looks really good tbh.

I am  not sure that is such a good feature. If you go and take a look at a herd of horses or donkeys, you will notice many with same color/look, heck, evne looking exactly the same. I hope MO wont become another WoW where everyone have a different mount, rendering really unique mounts looking just ordinary due to all the variations.

Not to be a party pooper, but the lighting is really easy to use in UE3 in the way they did, even you can get it right.

I find it incredibly funny that SV fans are touting the graphics in the first post as one of the best things ingame, when that has nothing to do with SV and everything to do with the UE engine that is apparently "broken and terrible" (according to posters here).

Though it appears to be broken only when SV uses it heh.

I think a lot of people share this concern, and hope it doesn't get out of hand.  The Mount teaser video especially showed such a wide range that more than a few people thought it might produce things that varied too wildly.

From that one picture provided, and from what the CM who took the picture said, the differences are fairly subtle so far - mostly pattern and size variation.

Please, SV, make your new gene system more realistic. I know every horse isn't the same, but not every horse has every part of them different than the last.

Look at the Donkeys in the background, can you look at the entire flock and say "Wtf is this multicolored piece of shit". No, all of the donkeys share a similar sub-set of colors and appearances, however on closer inspection you realize that they all have different patterns, height, and etc..

However, I looked through several flocks; and I did find a chocolate donkey in there, it was quite exciting.

Of course, that doesn't mean that it can't get crazy later.  It's definitely something to watch.

Are you that blind that you can't even see that those are just the same world, same textures, same trees, same foliage, same mountains, only difference being the mamoth skull which can be found in different size in Nave (so nothing new), a good camera angle and fog...

If you do not like the game or expansion that is fine.  I for one and quite eager to see the new DAWN expansion and all it will bring to the game.  Finally we will get the game as it was meant to be... a living, breathing (and breathtaking) world to make and break our sandcastles!  These are just a few screens.. a small snapshot if you will.. a tiny downpayment on what is to come next month!

I don't think of it as an expansion but more as a completion, since its going to bring the game a bit closer to a "finished"' game.

But right now, all I see in those pics are fog with good camera angles, I will need more.

    imageimageimageimageimage

but i bet now most of them are complaining for missing contents, and what would be happen after that?^^

Its not so much the GFX itself, the 3D engine in its new version along with speedtree works fine and renders well.

Problem which can be associated with GFX is level/world design. example : even with trees, I notice they tend to make 1 tree model and have most of those trees identical in size and planted with same angle all looking the same.

Foliage and ground texture repeated, tiled with the same shitty pattern, empty places with nothing to do etc...

So yeah, mostly design issues now.

Those 2 last screenshot however do look good I admit it, but then it can be very deceiving, originally there were awesome screenshots and videos in alpha/beta and it turned out to be pretty ugly after release so, I'll wait and see what its really like.

Here's a look at the new Guilds UI:

    image

Supposedly they have reworked the guild functionality with Dawn as well, which is a good thing.

Even the original screenshots looked good because they stuff FAR away. Come closer and you start pick up the problems. Mostly everything look really crude and pixelated. Look picture that Slap posted, that stone doesn't really blend in. The color blending is really poor and game looks sometimes like 90s games with poor bitmaps. Keep mind this is Unreal engine behind and some games that use it are pretty damn impressive. Animation is also pretty poor in some points but it's got lot better.

Problem with all this small budget indie MMOs is that they make huge world and fill it with automation, where as big budget companies do all that by hand and it shows. But hey they can brag about having huge world, but since most of it is useless it's just marketing. Main point: Aim low and execute well.

I still recall SV having that amazing trailer of the dragon, and the neat mount, and put at the bottom "Using Ingame technology" or whatever to show that WOW that's what you're going to get when you get ingame, and then logging in and finding that the graphics weren't anywhere NEAR what they showed in the movies.

Granted, I didn't expect them to be, but if people expect the new content to look flawless then they are smoking something I'd like a hit of. That said, the graphical issues ingame now are not about how pretty it is, but how it paths terrain, how your mounts and characters "float" in midair, etc. If they fix all that stuff, then maybe the screenshots might be more impressive. But as it stands if the rest of the game works that way, there's no doubt that the new content will work this way as well.
