General: Diablo 3 In the "Home Stretch"

2011 and this year's Blizzcon could be exciting for fans of Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo 3. According to BlizzPlanet, Jay Wilson says that Diablo 3 is in 'crunch mode' and that leads observers to hope that the title will ship in Quarter 4 2011!
Some press members have reported they were at Irvine recently playing Diablo III, these past days. Jay Wilson told the New York Times the following statement that really makes my skin chill with excitement:
“We’re definitely in the home stretch. We’re crunching. This is when the magic happens.”
That’s significant because on February 9th, Mike Morhaime (Blizzard CEO / President) said at the 2010 Fourth Quarter Financial Report that he would have details on Diablo III beta testing at the next conference — which is May 9th.

I really am worried over D3, Blizzard destroyed D2 with the last patch, they made it so 5 year olds could play. Once i would have preordered this game but not now, i will wait for others to post thier thoughts then i will decide.
Fingers crossed they have not ruined a once great game.
Well i think the fact that MMO is in the site name has alot to do with it.
But on a side note i feel they will say alot about D3 at blizzacon in the up coming months.

... maybe it's time for an RPGGuru site for RPG games?
I think there are enough RPG games around to warrant such a site, and it would mean that mmorpg.com isn't a mix of news about MMO's and the top5 of RPG games.

But the topict is D3 and yes it is a mmo same as D2 was not in the sense that you have 100 ppl in the same town at the same time. And Diablo is alot like EQ a staple game that set the tone for all the MMO's that followed it. I see Bilzzcon going to have huge updates on D3 like maybe a date. But like with all Bilzzard games add 2 years to what ever date they tell you. So if they say out in 2011 + = out in 2013

So five year olds could play? Maybe you aren't playing the same game I play. If your talking about battle.net, its hacker central so really if that is your only play experience with Diablo II then no doubt when I bot runs it for you.
Go hardcore singleplayer on /p8 untwinked and get back to me when a five year old can play it.
As for D3, I'm unsure about it, DII was a fantastic upgrade and I had my reservations about it just as I do with D3. Hopefully its good for replayability and character diversity.
Well actually I would say that Diablo was the starting field for MMOs for quite a few people. Diablo was out before EQ1. I might call it the precursor to mmo's. It started what mmos became.

Hm, I was just thinking about D 3 today and how I wished it came out this year.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
If it doesn't have nightmare mode, with a huge level cap and a ranking board showing the highest level/exp players, then I wont buy it.

I was under the impression they said no new games at all in 2011.
the art direction taken in this game is just horrible. its just sad that they ruined their game adopting rediculous wowish graphics and lightning. I am sure it's going to be a major success in terms of sales but its hardly diablo anymore
My excitement for D3 has kind of gotten pretty low now, it's more of a 'check it out when it comes out, maybe' now. A lot of the announced changes combined with other rumors floating around has me wondering if it's even worth counting the days until it's release (for me personally anyways).
That's something I thought i'd never say, especially when all I was wishing for was a new Diablo to play for quite a few years.
Love the direction art has gone. Diablo series has always been a techno dino with limited palettes.
Anyway, SC was in crunch for 2 years if that means anything =P
Heh , seriously , with all the crap at our disposal on the game list of this site , I really don't see how Diablo 3 could do any worse. Also the term "MMO" has been dead for quite some time now. It's all about solo play, which is unfortunate. I welcome any news MMORPG.com staffers have to offer about upcoming RPG's.
Dungeon Siege 3 has taken over all my Diablo 3 hype. I really, really, really want to love D3 but I just don't think it's going to be anywhere near as good as D2. I think I share the same concern as some of those above in that I feel they've "WoWified" the game to appeal to a wider market. While I understand a larger market share leads to more money, it still makes me feel a little jaded. Blizzard is losing it's spot in my "Best Devs EVER" list.
I played D2 for 5 years and i still cant believe people think D3 looks worse. lol

MMO's played: Ragnarok Online (For years), WoW (for a few weeks only), Guild Wars, Lineage 2, Eve, Allods, Shattered Galaxy, 9 Dragons, City of Heroes, City of Villains, Star Trek Online (Got someone ELSE to pay for it), Champions Online (Someone else paid), Dofus, Dragonica, LOTRO, DDO and more... A LOT more. I've played good AND bad. The bad didn't last long. :P
Diablo 2 is the game I have spent so many hours on!!! This is actually the ONLY game for which I stayed up till like 5-6 am in the morning a couple of time.
Diablo 3 looks amazing from the videos I've seen. Every single thing they are doing with this game seems to be exactly what the Diablo series is all about - killing stuff all the time!
This game gave me a much more social experience than any MMO. I was always in a group with friends or some random peeps slashing our way through the endless hordes of Diablo
Also dueling in D2 was soooo fun I can put it into words.
Even after I gave up on the game I would return to play for a bit with friends be it duelling or the odd modification. SC and Diablo are the games I have been waiting for sooooooooooooo long. SC2 definitely did not disappoint and am still having a blast with it after over 8-9 months now.
