I've been away from DAoC since back when the classic servers were in their prime, however I have found little fun out there in todays games. I am proposing this...we send out a call to arms to all past DAoC players. Spread this message around and lets attempt to get the game overflowing with players. Then maybe they will see the demand for such a game and get working on DAoC 2, or a game similar to what we all love about the DAoC.
So spread the message, and fire up those free trials, the 10 day free resub trial, or go ahead and resub. Lets get our RvR on!

that sounds like a plan what do you propose as low levels or what?
I was going to transfer over some of my old characters, but I can't seem to figure out how since the old server is gone. If I figure it out, then I'll be playing on them some, but may be starting one from scratch.
if you want to start a toon from scratch then i will also have to do the same thing since i dont have an account for DAOC, if we can get this going i will be glad to join in with ya

Dig around a bit, you may find something. The last time I played (sometime last year), the old servers were sort of available in archived form: you could log in to a character and initiate transfer to the Ywain cluster. Don't know if that still works, and it wasn't real obvious in the server selection screen.
Just started playing again like a week ago and nowdays you level up really fast!!
do Battleground quests between 10-30 and then just grind in DF and Frontiers and you will be 50 in no time.
So even if you dont have your acc, answer the call, start playing again, thid is still gr8 fun.
I know you all miss daoc, and that you are trying to fill the void with other mmos, but it will never work.
The only way is the get ppl back to daoc! Sure the UI and grafics isnt 2011 but look at it for what is is, its 10 years old and still awesome!

Hate to ruin your dreams but this has been tried several times. DAoC 2 was in development (along with Imperator) but noth were canned because EA wanted Mythic focusing on Warhammer.
There was a HUGE surge of interest in DAOC when Mythic announced a true classic server with no expansions. When WAR flopped hard almost everyone got pulled from DAoC to try to save it and the classic server was canned with some lame excuse of "not enough interest" despite an original quote from the devs saying "overwhelming positive response!" to the idea of a classic server.
Maybe one day when SWTOR is out they'll let Mythic attempt a classic server or a sequel, given how successfull the EQ classic server has been, but I doubt it. Most of the talent that made DAoC great have long since left and the game, while still better than most MMOs, is so poor compared to what it used to be that its not worth bothering with.
I thought they did have some version of the classic servers? Maybe just with the first expansion and some of the mini-download expansions?

They have "classic servers" which have ToA turned off, but they're not really classic servers. They still have most of the things that broke the game, like the instances and such. Though thankfully, they don't have /level 20 or ToA.
The TRUE classic server would have rolled it all back to the original game before SI.

I would be interested in playing this game again, I have done before, cant remember what server, but it would have been european. I did not get to cap lvl, because i started playing when the masses decided the game was at an end
So if u let me know what server etc; i would be glad to answer your call

There is only the Ywain cluster left to play on, ywain 1-10. They are like channels so it doesnt matter wich of the 10 servers you pick because they all work together as one server.

If you are looking to return or need help once you have give some of my guild a message and we can help. I Hate People is the name ( stems from us being origionally from PvP server ). We can help you with about anything you need on the Mid side.
I current play most nights (Eastern) and can say my return to the game has been great so far. Message me on mid (chars are in my sig) if you have questions about anything. I will help as best as I can.
If you played on classic, your toons are still there. Choose archived servers on the launcher, and log in. Once on the character you want to transfer type /freexfer ywainX (x being a number 1-10, for whichever housing cluster you want to be home).

ughh i want to play so bad!!! i wish i could get a job so i could play i would be on right now instead of being on here daydreaming! i havent played in 2 to 3 years i hope i can still get my 50 lvl chars back but if not no worries i have lvled so many characters before a few more wouldnt kill me :P
Seems like this game (given how old it is) has a pretty steady player base close to 2000 people, while this is pretty minute compared to what the modern MMO juggernauts player bases look like, it shows that there is a good core group of players logging in day after day.
I'm so tired of the "wow-effect" or theme-park style MMOs as of late, the sandbox feels so much more organic to me and I'm fine playing on out dated graphics on a game thats long past its prime. This game still has some potential left in it but it would take a massive resurgence of interest and a swelling of its current player base to do so. I'm really thinking about canning my sub to FE and getting back into this and the idea that so many of us former players are thinking the same or already have gives me hope that this game will return or perhaps convince the big wigs to green light a sequel to this. My only fear is that a sequel would try to hard bring the theme park design element to the game.
Good luck to all returning members and to those of you who are new and never tried this I applaud you for giving a classic a shot. If your on the fence pick up a 14 day trial, it costs nothing and if you give it a little time you can see the magic that is still in this game!
