The Good Points.
The Bad Points.
Summary.
Devs have ignored customers for weeks about x64 crash issue (so if you don't run any x64 OS your ok)
If you like a slow game to start & can put up with gettting the sh*t smashed out of you & being dead within
30 seconds of play by something you cant see from the other side of the map, you will like this game.
(later on in the game its not as bad, buy premium & speed up this process).
Overall its a decent game & worth a try...afterall it's free ...potentially it could of been so much more

good to know. Thanks
Another of the bad:
They never added many of the tanks they said would be in the game when it released.. (british, french)
Hell the clan wars junk they said would be there isn't, and they didn't even bother to add american tank destroyers before launch.
seems like they came up with a quarter of the game, gave up and then pushed it out the door for a quick buck.
sad to say but this is call of duty with tanks, but instead of paying for the game and playing they decided to call it a MMO to make themselves feel better about charging for most of the content.
I agree with a lot of these points. I have a x64 os though, Played since early closed beta and never had a problem with it runing for me. Apart from that the o.p is spot on imo.
I never had issues in beta, but since launch somethings screwed up,
tbh m8 theres a hell of a lot of ppl with the same issue, so its not an indiviuals system specific.
Its not gamebraking, just damn annoying, moreso that they don't bloody fix it lol

most devs are all the same these days, "we'll fix it when it comes out" ..."we'll add 'X' content for launch"
...& so forth ...seems to be a terrible trend thats been around for some time & is here to stay

'Devs/Mods take to long to reply to emails & forum threads

Guess thats what you become when you have to deal with todays MMO Communitys.
I hear from a buddys company making games, that the devs there are kept away from the Forums/customers since their oppinions/answers about the 'general overentitled whiners and bitchers' (customers) are better translated 'nicely' by PR guys. Or left away.
Companys rush out unfinished crap and the customers change as well. Hard to tell whos more bad mannered here. Who was first hen or egg?

I agree there are a lot of trouble causers & whinners in forums m8

Well from a long list of RTS, FPS & MMO games over the last several years (more so MMO's) i think there is to much "we will sort it on release" & hundreds of ppl in here would agree
Dont see the problem m8, i thought i was impartital & fair, it was not negative

I have windows 7 64 bit, and it has never crashed on me yet. However that is the only thing I can say that I found wrong with the OP's post.
The rest is spot on especially about the mod's being bad mannered, and yes we seen that on this site. I expect him to show up and in this thread soon.
Alo another thing, it only has 16 maps. I only played about 8 or 9 of them as you never know what your going to get. Usually I get the same map 3 or 4 times in a row. The game suffers from lack of maps.
Most of your points are very valid, however after 100+ games on my win7 x64 os I have not had one crash on this game, so dont think the crashes are x64 alone causing it.
"slow and boring" is quite relative, I think it follows same pace as most games, unless you want something like Call of duty games.
I have to agree there must be a secondary variable causing the issue,
I have see a lot of ppl complaining about TS having to be run in admin to work properly,
so there may be another variable causing the x64 crash.
there are many ppl compling about this, almost all my m8's in TS running x64 have this issue too

It was rather an aligned comment then an opposed one. I didnt intend to invalidate your argument just extend their surrounding settings.
Still i am not sure where the 'rush unfinished' attitude comes from. From my buddy i hear constantly , he has to work late, overtime, weekends, masterphase and so on. Then hes bitter about the time beeing too short for severe issiues and they had to quickfix some stuff 'quick and dirty' so it wont just fail out of the door...
I am amazed how the setup of a Project that runs for 5 or more years can become complicated in the last 3 months and they HAVE to release , no matter what to cash in the last 5 years. Thats millins worth of codertime and artworkdesigners and and and...
Then if you add the botter, marcoing and afkers to the issues including balancing just fails 99% of the time. people breaking the game rules and no one is dealing with many of the issues. Mods are useless shooting through walls inviable tanks and the list goes on and on...
Having said all the above I'm still having fun and it's a little frustrating some times but I have got two accounts, one with 25k gold and I started a new account to see how difficult it would be to compete with gold account holders. I have found new accounts are not as hard as people make them out to be, okay you can not train crews to 100 without gold but you can get them to 90% and although while you will always be behind the fact that you can convert gold to exp to get up the tiers quicker if you so choose, it does not stop you from playing in low level games. it's a bit like coming into beta half way through and people always going to complain because they feel others have bought their way to the top and they always wanted a wipe to give them a level playing field.
There is an easy solution to this stop complaining and buy gold too, the people complining are doing so because they cannot get to a higher tier faster. I get it all the time when I play my M6 gold tank when I'm grabbing extra money to buy my next tier tank, however they never complain when our team wins the game, but if we lose it's because we bought prem tanks, makes me LOL all the time.
This is not a game that will suit everyone but if you plan on playing it then at least read the rules and take the game seriously please, otherwise stay away and let the people who do enjoy it even with it's faults play the game in peace. if I get fed up or annoyed which I do from time to time I just give the game a rest.
The other thing is, every one wants a perfect game at release, but all you online gamers know that's never gonna happen in reality and if you think otherwise then you need to take a reality check
If you want any help or advice you can catch me in game as Kellys_Heros or Douglas_Kay and before you all start telling me Heroes was spelt wrong I know okay.
Some days you may even hear the odd quote like - Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves and dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change? - You may want to think about that before you add any posts here too
Asbo
Im running 64, and havent had any crashes.. you sure its not your computer ?
I've had over a 160 battles, which is about 5 days of play, and I haven't crashed yet also. Using Windows 7 64Bit.
But I've never had this much fun in a free to play game. The grind is a slow process, and ofcourse you can use the cash shop to speed it up, but that's a pricey option and you'll get more value for money from simply using the premium account.
Windows 7 Pro 64, no crashes.
oh i fogot also win7, 64bit no crashes so far.
Considering ive got a £3000 rig running perfect & that i've already posted that ive had no issues
with any other games, Plus i have a 2 velociraptors, 1 with x32 installed & another with x64
& the x32 works fine running WoT
so its not my rig ...neither of you trolls have anything positive or constructive to add anyway.
I've already said there are dozens & dozen of ppl all with the same issue posting on WoT forums
plz read before posting...so point ur fingers elsewhere (toward WoT devs perhaps?)
Almost every x64 user in our TS has the same issue too
It doesnt affect 100% of x64 users, but it doesn't mean the problem isn't there!
it maybe a combination issue, perhaps memory? ...but it's not my job to find it, its WoT devs job.

5x Win 7 64 bit at work... no crashes
NEW IDEAS that can refresh the STALE state of MMORPGs
My 7 man clan members in WoT who all have Windows 7 64Bit have no crashes, half of them who played beta never crashed in beta also. Sorry to say this, but the select few who experience crashes either have some kind of software causing the crashes, be it antivirus or firewall, or maybe damaged motherboard or graphics card ram, could be soundcard software conflicts, maybe bad sectors on the harddrive? Could be a number of other hardware or software related issues, but I think it's safe to say that WoT is actually a very stable game.
I've played it solid for a week, never had performance issues or crashes. It's very well optimised and even after a couple hours play still retains that great performance. I don't think the game is to blame.
For a free game i think its great fun cant complain at all really..
OH yeah win 7 x64 here never had any issues during beta..
W7 Ultimate x64 here and no crashes.
Apart from that game is pure FPS and very grindy if you don't have a team of people to have fun with.
No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.
I haven't read through the second page of this thread but I just figured I'd address the points you made made in the OP as someone who started playing it in closed beta in October.
This is NOT an MMO its a multiplayer, load a map, play, rinse & repeat (just like an FPS)
If you have ANY x64 OS you will suffer many crashes (loads of ppl complaining on WoT forums)
Cant group without owning a premium account (paid for using ingame shop)
Ingame shop unbalances the game, ppl buy premium & rank faster, buy better gear with gold
Game mechanics do not allow you to travel over small hills & verges, yet you can crush a tree!?
Devs/Mods take to long to reply to emails & forum threads
Mods are bad mannered (we've seen this behaviour on this site)
Its slow & boring
1. It is not an MMORPG. After the release of Clan Wars it will fit the traditional idea of MMO though as clans will be competing for control of parts of a virtual Europe.
2. x64 OSes have no issues that I'm aware of. I've used 64-bit Windows 7 throughout my 7 months playing the game without a single crash.
3. True, you must have a premium account to create a platoon. Only the platoon creator needs a premium account though.
4. The only thing gold can will buy you is a premium account for faster XP/Credits, a few consumables that are only slightly more effective than the free versions, and premium shells which are so expensive that I have yet to even see anybody use them in my 2000+ battles. There are no modules or equipment you can buy with gold to improve your tank.
5. What small hills does it not let you travel over? It certainly won't let you go up a hill that's too steep for a tank. Isn't that to be expected? It's true that you can't drop off of an edge either, although I think an upgrade to the engine's physics is planned for later on to improve that.
6. I'll agree with that, more interaction on the forums from the devs and mods would be nice. I'd like them to keep us up to date on the status of patches and new content but it's certainly not something that breaks the game.
7. I'll be honest, I haven't seen much in the way of bad manners from mods. I haven't really been looking for it either though. I think they may partly come off as bad mannered because some of them do not have English as a first language since the studio is based in Belarus.
8. "Slow and boring" is entirely subjective. It's certainly not the type of game where you rush through the level shooting everything in sight as soon as you can. It's much more deliberate than that. Planning and strategy is rewarded much more than anything else. I guess you could call it the thinking man's shooter.

It's only a slow game if you make it slow. Personally, I enjoy playing the scout tanks which means I'm out there drawing fire while spotting enemies for my team to shoot. As for being shot by something you can't see within 30 seconds... don't rush out into the open right away and that won't happen. You can't play this the way you would Call of Duty and expect things to turn out well.
As for the 3rd post mentioning the tanks that haven't been released yet:
They never said they were going to have the British or French tanks in-game by release. For the French tanks they said they would have them in-game shortly after release. They intended to implement Clan Wars in the release patch but it ended up not happening because of their Ural Steel competition going on at the moment and it will be added mid-may instead. American Tank Destroyers will be soon after that and then French tanks during the summer.
Came up with a quarter of the game and then shipped it out? I guess you could say the same thing about WoW, because the majority of it's content was introduced in patches post-release.
As a final note, you can have access to every single tank and every single map in the game without paying a cent. Paying will, for the most part, just speed up the process.
Hi,
1. MMO. WoT 2D global map is not identical to the traditional opened and persistent MMO world. Moreover, only clan leaders are able to move pawns (icons of clam member’s vehicles) on this map. At the moment on Russian WoT server (Russians are playing CW for several weeks) according to official data only less than 5% of all battles are in the frame of the clan wars game option.
4. Gold. You have forgotten two very important game features that can be purchased only for gold (real money): 1. additional garage slots for tanks; 2. 100% training/retraining of the crews (regular crew training is extremely slow, good crew is very important for overall tank performance, tanks can even move significantly faster when a driver is good, important additional crew skills are available only after 100%).
5. Physics. Developers cannot use PhysX (build-in in the BigWorld engine) or Havok, so they are programming their own solution. It will be simple and as developers are reporting “drop off of an edge” will be not possible.
6/7. Interaction on the forums. They have very quick and numerous responses but on the Russian WoT forum (I can read Russian). But they are quickly deleting negative posts on NA WoT forum. I was often not able to finish my comment typing before the initial post was deleted. I really do not like the style of WoT moderation: they are gods (one nickname is forum Commander“Overlord”, he-he), players are silly kids. They are simply not polite (remarks in red like “Behave!”). The game is not that great to be so self-confident and arrogant.
"They intended to implement Clan Wars in the release patch but it ended up not happening because of their Ural Steel competition going on at the moment and it will be added mid-may instead."
The next patch will be 0.6.4, it does not contain CWs. They are going to implement first some elements of CWs menu and only thereafter CWs. I suspect Ural Steel competition has nothing to do with the CWs delay: the start of CW on the Russian WoT server was at total failure and developers had to stop them for several days. There are still numerous problems, e.g. single prime time of the battles (21:00 Moscow time, as far as I can recall now); long lasting queues; etc.
"8. "Slow and boring" is entirely subjective. It's certainly not the type of game where you rush through the level shooting everything in sight as soon as you can. It's much more deliberate than that. Planning and strategy is rewarded much more than anything else. I guess you could call it the thinking man's shooter."
“Slow” is progression, not the game play (15min maximum). Players are often complaining about tedious grinding in WoT. You can rush in WoT: kamikaze-scouts or “kids” on high level tanks (T-54, IS-7) are often rushing. There is no strategy in this game at the moment only tactics. Game mechanics does not support “thinking” and team play; all is based on self-organization of 15 random people that meet each other for 15 minutes only once in their lives.
“Boring” means goalless repetitive routine game play: same maps, same tanks, same capture-the-flag/death-match game mode, no quests/missions, no new instances/areas…
“As a final note”,
"you can have access to every single tank and every single map in the game without paying a cent."
Formally this is wrong: there are unique premium tanks (and very good ones) that can be purchased only for real money.
WoT is not WoW! An arcade online shooter cannot be compared with a cult-classical MMO.
There is nothing wrong with the game on x64 systems. If you have a problem it is probably exclusive to you. I've been playing since early beta on Win 7 x64 and no issues. I also run a large clan of 100+ people and have never heard this issue. Just a heads up to anyone reading this.
Also, I disagree with almost all of your negative points. Can't go over small bumps? Are you trying to drive up the side of mountains or something? There is no gear to buy to unbalance the game. You can buy some gold tanks which definitely do not unbalance the game. What gear are you talking about? You could buy premium rounds which increase penetration and not damage. This would be incredibly expensive if you did this all the time and it doesn't make all that much difference beyond allowing to you shoot a tank in an area that would be tough to penetrate normally. As far as the developers go, I agree that they do not reply in a timely manner on the forums, or with letting people know when tournaments start etc.
Regarding getting smashed from across the map, you should be strategic in your approach. You cannot zerg rush by yourself and expect to survive. This game requires tactics based on the type of tank you are using. This isn't an fps where you headshot people left and right bunny hopping around. There is no respawn so you take care in what you do. When you see an opening you take it. Not much more to say about this.
I use Vista x64 and it runs fine for me.
