By adding the trials of Atlantis expansion pack and adding the better items, new quests and the extra levels they really did shoot themself in the foot, I loved the game but didn't have the time to get thos extra levels coz it just took too long so thats when i decided i was gonna get WoW, so i waited until WoW came out and bought it straight away.
In a way I am glad because it is better in every aspect except PvP, DAoC's rvr system was brilliant and the best out there even at this moment!

It wouldn't have been bad if it weren't so damned raid oriented. If I received xp for every time I joined a disorganized battle group or had to wait on someone that was disconnected, I would've been ML10 in no time.
Either way, it's almost a catch 22 for them. How do you keep the higher level players interested in a grinding / loot based environment? Even though it's still quite young, that's something World of Warcraft has still yet to figure out. I wouldn't go as far as to proclaim it "better" until I see what they do at that point as well.
Still, Catacombs would've been a much better expansion in it's place.
I love the frontiers expansion, that was great, also the catacombs was good it's just the trials of Atlantis that sucks!
Well with WoW I reckon they're gonna keep on with the PvP side for a bit and hopefully make it almost as good as RvR

imho daoc got worst ever since they released ToA. During the time before ToA I had the most fun in this game - same is true for many other people I know who play(ed) daoc.
Instead of adding more PvM Grind they should have simply focused on developing another game and/or keep improving the balance in RvR, adding mor RvR content to the game (like they now do with the RvR missions).
Whatever, quitted a year ago 'cause I simply dont want to spend my online-time grinding Masterlevel and camping idiotic artifact encounters and scrolls...
WoW will take a very long time to have a good PvP or RvR system. Why? Because they just started. You will have all of the same complaints. Further, I would expect WoW to add an expansion eventually that will in some form or another require you to 'grind' through some more of levels. Maybe by raising the highest level or adding other level forms.
Here is the issue. A game that simply adds more zones really does not add anything to the game. They need to add new classes, but those require balance. They also need to give people other things to do. In fact there was a lot of feedback wanting something like that. At the time EQ was still the most popular US game and they had focused on such expansions. So Mythic thought it would be a good idea. It was not implented well, but still it only upset people who now wanted to play ToA for issues. ToA just happened to conincide with some other issues.
Depending on your class ML may or may not be of much help. Realm Rank is still the most important external factor to level. Then that is followed by artifacts and then ML. You really need to stick it through to RR5 and get a good template and you will do fine.
But I do have to wonder why you are bothing to even post here? Really that bored?
In any case on most servers there is at least one ML raid going on. If you are in a guild you can get help getting artifacts which doesn't take that long. You can buy the scrolls you need. So honestly the only hard part of the game is doing RvR from RR3-5.
Mythic didn't shoot there selve's in there feet, because the expansion ToA has come with totaly diferent items and some people didn't like the expansion and some others do. It's just a whole diference and getting the arti's lvl 10 isn't a big prob, just go to PoC (RvR dungeon) and hunt alot of mobs and you'll see it goes verry fast, each artifact levels on a other terrain but you'll never get a template with arti's that levels on the same place. In PoC evry arti levels and it goes faster. Artis also levels when you kill enemy players but that goes verry slow !
And id you ever played in the new frontier, it's much better and I think that the problem of WoW is the leveling of your cahr. It's takes to long the level your char to 60, and if you're 60 you kan almost kill ervrybody, don't like that, that's to easy. To get 60 is to hard en if you're 60 you'll get bored soon

DAoC's main problem is their classes aren't balanced. Adding ToA items only made this balance more noticable. Some people don't believe me, but my prespective comes from that of an archer (L.50 Hunter, Azur Phantasm). I want to go back to DAoC cause RvR is the best PvP that any MMO has to offer, but I know if I go back, I'm gonna wind getting frustrated in the same ways.
Mythic keeps dancing around the real issue (Balance) and just adds stupid things like crafting animation. If they wanted to fix the crafting system, they should have made it more worthwhile. Maybe less of a grinding and more of having to go out and find materials to make better weapons, so crafting ties into PvE which ties into the game. Again, unfortunately, they don't, the dev's just half-@ss it and try to make something that might "bring in new customers" instead of trying to keep the old ones.
Someone should tell Mythic that they're not getting any new customers
I am not going to get into the whole class balance issue. I will point out some very basic facts about the current state of DAOC. RvR is often about distance. Archers have the best distance in the game right now. Archers can also get a realm ability, mastery of stealth. This allows them to see other stealthers at far away distances including assassin classes.
The only way a good archers dies now is by zerging or bad luck. Brittle guards do help protect casters, but they are still often worse off in the deal. For RvR archers are the best class to go with right now.
Assassins are being screwed over. Can't kill casters or archers. Mostly just realm points for the other side now.
I still play DAoC,
But i agree that ToA made class balance more noticable.
I have a hunter also and i cant get any groups or into any good guilds. Im on the pvp server and i have a hunter on an rvr server. No wants hunters because they know they arent as good as some other classes. Its definately noticable that classes are unbalanced. ON the pvp server you basically have to have a guild to keep advancing in ML's and RR's and to get artifacts. And some classes just get completely left out of that just cause everythign is unbalanced. So it screws some ppl over.
