EQ solo

kengo677kengo677 Member Posts: 11

i've had WoW since its release, and I really like that you don't have to sit and wait for a group to be able to do anything, a major problem I thought in the original EQ.

I was reading something someone posted on a WoW forum an EQ2 press release they were angry about or something, but anyway they said they had added alot of solo content since release so I was thinking of trying it out because eq2 seems to have ripped off most of the features I liked FFXI and WoW and other games but given them their own spin so it could be really cool.

Just wanted to know how enjoyable the EQ2 solo quests were and if they were pretty much only available through the "adventure packs" or not.

the majority of the solo quests, solo instance zones they added are lvl 20+. There are plenty of Solo mobs to be found to fight although leveling through the solo content is agonizingly slow and tedious. Most of the solo mobs are of the " animal" veriety, which I find boring. The true "monsters" are group mobs. So if you dont mind killing bears, wolves, beavers, Birds, turtle etc. then youll be fine. Of ccourse that for Antonica. In the Commonlands you can kill elephants, COWS, rhinos, wisps, lions etc.

I'm currently pretty much solo leveling 4 characters right now, one of each class (mage, priest, fighter, scout), and I don't have much problem with it.

I find that the priest especially benefits from grouping more, being that his main powerset is mostly to help allies. But I can find and get xp by myself, its just more difficult than the rest.

The easiest to solo with, I find is with the fighter classes. They are built to take lots of damage, and they dole it out too.

The higher level content of the game definitely encourages grouping, and the guild system is a lot of fun, too. But by no means do you HAVE to group. Not to say that some mission won't require some backup::::15::.

I enjoy group play a lot, but my gaming time in EQ2 has been sporadic, so I've soloed most of the time.

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

no problem soloing at all. And there are certainly more than just animals to kill as a solo player....orcs, skeles, zombies, etc.

Once you get out of the 1-20 area (with all it's side-zones and instenced areas) you'll find that the next areas also have plenty of solo content.

You don't need to group. But it's FUN, and for some quests you'll probably need some help, if you HAVE to have that uber item.

But....why would anyone want to play a MMORPG solo???

Dont spread around the ease of eq2 solo play until after the combat do over thats in progress on the Test server. I play on test and the changes they are making will hinder solo play.

Why shouldnt the solo play style be just as viable an option?

if you like solo games, why pay monthly for a game designed around a multiplayer concept. Massively MULTIPLAYER Online Role Playing Game.

I'm not against soloing...sometimes I don't have time for a group...in this case, it's very handy to be able to solo. But some people seem to want to be able to solo the whole game, and it's just not realistic in a game that's designed to be multi-player.

That's true. Why do people love the SOLO part of the game... That's like saying...

"Why don't they add "FORCE GROUPING" To Final Fantasy 7"

Why would someone play a "Multi" Player game... Multi Means more than one doesn't it??
    lol

But i mean... I'm not saying i'm for  Forced grouping.
That's why i quit FFXI but i'm not going to play an entire game solo.

Plus i feel i have to in the server i'm in.

    lol

    Anyways...

I quit wow because there was a bit too much solo... now i'm playing on the SOE all access pass.
I get to play everything but.. besides that.

EQ2 Has solo content.. For sure.
But you shouldn't try to play the entire game solo... That's not right.
If you want that go play friggin' Champions of norrath for ps2 ... that's singleplayer ... How's that for solo lol.
If all you wanna do is solo then stay away from us people who want to group to interact with others and have a fun adventure and SHARE the experince.

This really isnt any big deal.  SOE is going a good job of balancing the content with solo and group content.  Since not everyone have the luxury of coming on, then five minutes later they get on a group.  Normally you dont get that chance, you would have to spend hours waiting to get into a group.  Solo content is a good way for people to escape from waiting on the docks for those hours.

There was a time where people complained that there was too much grouping, where the only thing you could do on the game was to group.  Now there is a balance.  SOE have made solo content for people to chose not to group, and there is group content for people, if they want to, decide to group.  Its really that simple.

I really like games that have variety and choices.  Instead of having one option and thats it.

Have played: CoH, DDO EQ2, FFXI, L2, HZ, SoR, and WW2 online

Agree, having more variety in a game will keep me hooked on it other than just having lots of content. Times when I can't find a group I will just solo and keep my LFG tab on until I get a group. Then of course when I'm bored of the game entierly I will go out and get some sun ;)

Say it isn't so!  Are they nerfing heroic opportunities, or what?

I'm digging the solo friendly play of this game a lot.  Even when I am soloing, the presense of PCs wandering around adds a texture to these games that offline games lack.  Content that's strictly for groups is fine, and EQ II has that.  But forced grouping is archaic.  Forced grouping says "If you don't have 6+ hours to play, don't even log."  There are very few adults for whom such restrictions are attractive.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
