Mortal Online - is it safe to try

I haven't heard a lot of negative press about MO lately, so I was wondering if it was in a state where it was safe to use up my free trial?? I've been watching the forums for a while and everything has been very negative. Lately there seems to be a 'slight shift' and some positives coming from the community. I would like to hear from those who recently played and not the 'I played last year' or 'never played' types. Please give me a thumbs up or down. I don't want to waste my time if its still a resounding thumbs down.

I just fired up the free trial last week and I am amazed at how much better the game is than when I originally tried it in beta. I have been having a great time so far... and am quite addicted at the moment. All in all, I would definitely say give the game a shot.
I have noticed that some of the starter areas are much more populated than others. I started in Meduli (character is human) and that area seems to have a very healthy population.

From what I understand, the population has once again dropped to a very low level unless you are in a specific town or two.
Personally I am waiting until the incredible new DAWN expansion releases later this month to try it again. I think that would be your best bet as the population will certainly tick up for at least awhile when it launches.

DL'd the trial to check it out without subbing back up. Started in FAB and only saw 1 other person. Was pretty suprised, not sure if ppl migrated somewhere else but it was a ghost town (used to be populated). Game def runs better than it did in the past though. If they could get more people in the game, would be better.
Definately worth a try as long as the core features sound good to you. If you think you're gonna wanna eek out every last minute of the trial I'd recomend starting the download now, so that you can jump right in once you activate the demo.

The reason you havent heard any negative press, is because there has been NO press.
Everyone is waiting for this "BIG" expansion which is just bringing some features that should have been shortly after release. The game is still lacking in depth, its still just a first person hack and slash, not a sandbox.
So much crap, so little quality.
Simply put, it's the best fanstasy based sandbox MMORPG on the market right now.
It doesn't hurt to try the trial. It's free.
Also the new expansion is coming out sometime this month with tons of new features.
Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp!
I agree with this assessment here.
The game has certainly improved since launch, and is worth a try, though as others have said, keep in mind that the Dawn expansion is still due to come out this month.
