Impending hacker attack 5-6 this weekend

whackerswhackers Member Posts: 30

Just read a article that hackers are planning more attacks on the sony network that they already have server access to. So with SOE being down for weeks and maybe longer which game should we look to? I'm thinking of trying rift just to kill time, i have a wow account but its boring as heck.

Real hackers don't announce their attacks. This is a scare tactic.

Dude Rift is awesome, I been playing eq2 since beta, and the transition to Rift is easy and appealing to en eq2 fan, some of the artists from eq2 did rift as well, and the game is pretty and fun, and theres......GLOWIES...but there called artifacts lol, Rift is really fun, and if you come from eq2 you will find the game mechanics and the quests and storyline quests and the dungeon quests appealing in the style of eq2 but with a bunch of tweeks to the game that make it unique unto its own name. Cheers, hope you enhjoy rift, I am on the Wolfsbane server, it is the most populated, and in the guild called Templar Knights, we have a ventrillo server , my ingame name is Haggly, also have a bunch of end game players that will help with questions and such...cheers hope to see you there, hit me up, or just ask for a templar knights guild invite in general chat.

from what the article says it was in a known hacker channel that someone overheard them talking about a attack that works for cnet or such. I dunno. Though on the good side i have gotten a ton of yardwork done this week, if i dont find a game for the weekend guess i'll just do laminate flooring project. hehe

Its a big time scare tactic. Nobody would be stupid enough to hit SOE's servers again so soon. For everyday the servers are down = win for the hackers. They probably pop a chubby over the fact they're costing a big time corporation millions or even billions of dollars. They're hoping via threats that SOE will get weary and not put their servers back up so quickly. Milk it for all its worth.

What servers? Their TV technical support department?  SOE is not presently listening on the internet as far as the public knows.  Are parts of PSN back up? I

Before the forum went down Smokejumper mentioned that they'll be getting new hardware (the long awaited new hardware to update the remaining servers).

There's a silver lining anywhere. It's good that those hackers didn't know they actually helped EQ2 players in the long run. :)

Playing Rift in the meantime. Enough EQ2 former devs are there, so it feels more like "home" than WoW.

I heard 4Chan is behind part of it, or some of the core group involved was.

Something to do with the Geofart PS3 fiasco or some such nonsense.
