in Rift

Purchase rift with caution... it seems they are getting hit with keystroker hacks... my account has banned just today, (got an email from them) the funny thing is i cancel my sub and stop playing 2 weeks into release... just a warning, their site is getting attacked daily by hackers, trying to get accounts.

Thank you for contacting us regarding RIFT.



Unfortunately, it does indeed appear that your account has been compromised. I also see that the violation that resulted in your account termination was committed during the period of time that your account was compromised.



As a safety precaution, we are going to leave the current ban on your account in place, so that you may take the necessary steps to re-secure your account. It is imperative that you have re-secured your account, before we move forward.



Once you've reclaimed your account, we will remove the notation of violation (and accompanying ban) from it. Before we get to that point, however, please perform the following actions:



1) Phone into our Account/Billing department at 1- 877- 70- TRION (87466). Provide the agent with whom you speak the reference number for this ticket (found below). They will verify your identity, and can provide information about account security.

2) Run a virus/malware scan on your computer, in an effort to locate any possible trojans, keyloggers, etc.

4) Once this is done, please reply to this communication, letting us know that you've taken the above measures to safeguard your account, and we will be happy to continue the process of removing your ban.



As I'm reminding all players who find themselves in a similar situation: please be sure to never visit any questionable websites or open mail that looks questionable, as they could be phishing attempts by seedy websites attempting to siphon off your account information. Remember, never share your account information with anyone to help prevent issues such as this from arising.

    Use an authenticator.

    RIFT might be victim to keyloggers but so is all the stupid things people will download off facebook.

    Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug.
    12 Million People have been meter spammed in heroics.

    Warning to purchase becouse of keylogers ? Rofl ... Where have you been living till today ? Basicly all mmo's are target for hacks, keylogers etc ... Just secure your computer, dont buy gold,  use diferent passwords, dont let others use your account and you will be ok, like in every other game. Sometimes shit happens actualy its game company that screws it ( like Sony recently) but ussualy its your fault and not games company.

    Wellcome to internet !! and most of all...wellcome to MMos!!

    I stopped playing WoW more than 8 months ago and i still get 2-3 pishing mails from "Blizzard" everyday....

    It happens to all Mmo....you just have to be very cautious not to click on any link within those mails....

    Looks like your first time playing online dude..... ¬¬

    BTW: U should remove that link from your post......... just in case......

    Looks like a classic phishing email to me too. Probably not from Trion at all. Anyway, don't click any links. Just go directly to the Trion site and try and log into the account section there. If you can do that, presumably it means the account hasn't been banned at all but you can change the password if it makes you feel happier.

    I get a daily "You have been banned"-mail from "Blizzard", and i didnt play since the release of the first expansion...
