    Aion.

And as of 25th May the 2.5 patch will be released, adding Mounts, Dungeons, Raids, Player Housing... and what looks like a MASSIVE graphics update, which considering the current graphics are pretty damn good is gna look amazing.

Player base is strong enough since the realm merge you will always find others doing the quests/dungeons you are on.

Got to level 45ish Templar in the first 2 weeks or so of launch havent really played since, i may take a look at it again though. It was just a little too easy to level imo, sure it was a grind, just nothing like L2.

If you like to grind, LotRO can be good for that. Tons of quests to grind, if you like grinding quests. Crafting (and gathering) takes a long time to grind out Mastery for each tier. There are deeds to grind. Some for exploration. Some for completing most quests in a zone. Some kill deeds, which at higher level ranges may require hundreds of kills to fulfill.

There are also grinds for class, virtue and race traits. (Class traits can be slotted to enhance class abilities. Earning them requires using a particular skill in combat for many repititions, with a cap on how far they advance each day. Race traits are usually grinding a particular creature type. Virtues are earned through a variety of grinds).

Every zone has a reputation grind available, which can take a lot of time and effort.

I felt like a grinder myself, after tiring of the "level cap in a week" titles we've been seeing a lot of the last couple years. I'm grinding Rep and deeds and the game provides some really steep grinds if you want to avail yourself of them.

Edit: Also, it's F2P, with some limitations. You can experience most of the level 1-20 content for free, but after that requires either a monthly sub, or purchase of quest packs. A good portion of the zones are open to F2P, but the quests in those zones are what you pay to unlock. So, if you just wanted to mob grind and not touch quests, you could go beyond 20 for free. You can also earn Turbine Points in game, usually through grinds. If you really, really like to grind and are determined to spend little or nothing on the game, it can be done, with a lot of effort.

Yeah i kinda despise the "Level cap in a week" game at the moment, I know Maplestory isn't one of the best games on the market, but its a beautifully long lasting MMO which takes a very long time to reach cap, we need to see more MMO's following this kind of trend.

I'll check Lotro out though i've tryed it a couple of times but never really got the feel for it, i'll give it another shot.

Maybe not grindy in quite the sense you are thinking or meaning, but EVE has a lot of repeated tasks and trust me, you will get nowhere near maxing anything in a week...or a month.

That's probably because Aion is not really a grind game. It's just that players who have never played one think it is. As a point of note I got to 32/33 in about two days of hardcore playing at launch. Didn't feel like a grind at all. Just too much playing.

If they actually played a game like Lineage 2, especially in the early years their minds might have exploded.

However, having said that, one can play Aion without doing the quests. I signed on for the first time last night and for the most part have been avoiding quests.

Also, I'm not sure 2.5 brings housing. From the looks of the trailer I looked at that's 3.0. Though it's possible I missed something.

Ragnarok Online, Perfect World, good old Everquest.

Pretty much anything that predates WoW.

Nowadays aion is hardly any grind at all. Except for ap and gear.

Not sure if u're into sandbox type but they're quite rewarding grind game if u ask me.

Example are eve online and uncharted water online

Darkfall is strong choice, if you enjoy the FPS combat. A lot of people like it, but the grind is a little too much for the average player. I played Runescape to very high level as well and will never ever come back or play anything similar. Darkfall gave sort of the same vibe, but in much more enjoyable format. If you're the type who doesn't like others affecting your progress, then it might not be best choice.

I heard about Ragnarok and those kind of "Oldschool" graphics i fall in love with, is it popular do you know?, Also im debating about EQ1 how popular is that nowadays?

    Darkfall.

It's not the most popular mmo, but it's got all the grind you can ever want.

Just checked the game on Youtube and it looks quite interesting, the reviewer did say that the MMO had been shutdown and re-released a couple of times though.

How popular is this MMO and how stable (Will it close anytime soon.)

EQ1: Group oriented "grind" game. With the latest expansions and such they tried adding all sorts of quests, but the original game was a group-based grinder really.

FFXI: Also group-based grinder, even more grind since you can level all your jobs to max.

Redstone: My personal favorite grinder, levels 0-999 I think someone estimated the time to hit max level as something around 7 years of play. The graphics are a bit out-dated (diablo 1 almost) but the skill and dual-class system is quite good. Both solo and group-based grinding.

RFO: I haven't played RFO since launch, but I just remember the level grind + the PT grind made the game ridiculously grindtastic. Although does RFO still have active servers? I dunno.

if by popular you mean populated, i would say lowish, but sufficiently populated - there are places you dont meet anyone and there are places (usually where materials are harvested :) ) where you will wish there were less people :)

as for how stable - there isnt anything suggesting that it would be closing any time soon

If you don't mind playing mmorpgs with dated graphics... that game has a neverending grind. You level from 1-99, then after you hit 99 exp you earn is turned into life/mana. There are people that have been playing since release almost nonstop and they are like 4 million life and 3 million mana now.

Playing - Minecraft, 7 Days To Die, Darkfall:ROA, Path of Exile

    Waiting for -
