not yet, maybe in a years time ill take a look again.
I found it a good game all in all, but when i hit 35 it was dull. I got realy sick of the questing system there, kill x mobs deliver go back to same spot kill again and this was quite common. Think i would have stuck with it to end game if i could have cherry pickd my quests and tossed the ones i didt want to do and go for rifts/dungeons to pick up the xp from missd quests. But hwo knows
I have been a strickly p2p mmo gamer for years, but now im actualy playing a f2p game that has me quite busy. I got a bit sad when i noticed this game had a ton more feature then rift even if it is a bit grindy.
I quit a few weeks ago, went back to Everquest after 8 years and was loving it, until the SOE servers went bye-bye at least. Im hoping they are up sometime next week, otherwise I may actually resub a month to Rift. Right now I have reinstalled LoTRO but cant really bring myself to play it again. As shallow as Rift is, at least its more enjoyable with its Rifts and open world PVP. If during late Monday it still looks like the SOE servers are down, I guess one more month of Rift is due.
Jam, that is odd, did exactly the same, dl'd both, got to about 15 on both and got bored. DA2 kept me amused for a while, makes a nice break from MMO's.
I finally got around to playing ME2 (and finishing last night). Have a couple more games on the backlog from previous steam and D2D deals though. Looking forward to when DA2 goes on sale (maybe this Black Friday or next year) I actually considered picking up Age of Conan Godslayer for $9.99, but having tried the trial version last year (and remembering all the zoning, and the combat system), I couldnt pull the trigger on that either.
EDIT: After looking through the threads here, Im not sure I can bring myself to resub even if the SOE servers are not up next week.
I unsubbed a bit after the first month, and just recently ran out of time, though i havent been back since i left to use any of the remaining time.
For the argument of the dead servers vs servers are well populated, its both. The world seems much more empty, and the LFG tool is needed, not because the servers are dead, but because, from what ive seen, most of the active population is grinding warfronts to level up.
In fact, on the server i was on, there were only one or two raiding guilds between both factions, every time we wanted to raid, wed have to pug a few people, or take a non full group it, but usually we just ended up doing a raid rift.
The life of a level 50 is quite boring, while the tier 2 dungeons are decently entertaining, its difficult to find a group of normal people doing it, just the in guild pro's who run though, skipping as much as possible, bugging every boss possible and getting it done as fast as possible, which is boring imo.
In the end, your basically running around grinding for pve gear, or grinding instances for pvp gear, once you get it.....what then?
The rifts and invasions are just like everyone predicted theyd be in beta, packed with interest for the intinal launch, then largly ignored. Sure when a quest realated invasion boss spawns people will run to it, but its not even fun, and the rewards are not usefull.
I mean, in all honestly, if you LOVED wow battlegrounds, this game seems to be for you. However these cross server warfronts are whats making the pve side of the game feel so empty.

So out of all those boring things you liisted. That you have no interest in doing with anyone...
The only reason the game seems empty is because of cross server warfronts... Color me confused.

Yes you do indeed seem confused.
My interests were in grouped PVE, i enjoyed the tier 2 dungeons and the raids. However, it was very difficult to find people who were interested in anything other than warfront spam.
I mean, when your on a high pop server and theres only 2-3 raiding guilds on the server, it speaks volumes to what the community is interested in, its not endgame pve. Im sure some servers are diffrent, however, theres no option to transfer. I was stuck on a high pop server that was only interested in warfronting.
Other than that, its the same old gear grind endgame, however i rather enjoyed how endgame bosses were not only DPS races but also dances...very few tank and spank snooze fests.
But like i said, being interested, rather, entertained by that aspect of the game only, and also having that aspect largely ignored by the community, made for an already stale game beyond boring.
Hopefully this clears up your confusion a bit. Im not trolling on the game or anything, i was on a bad server. From my experience on this server i could see how some would think that a medium or high pop server "felt" empty, as a lot of the community just spams warfronts, leaving a lot of the game void of active players.
my Rift sub ended 3 days ago and im not resubbing, my AoC and WoW subs end in 5 days (had 3 months package on WoW and 1 month on AoC and Rift... im not resubbing to any of them again, for now. ill stay playing 360 and some f2p mmos while waiting for either TSW or Blade and soul to sub and play on pair with GW2.
Maybe ill get FF14 while it still doesnt have monthly payments.
I just resubbed, despite being utterly bored, because I cannot think of another MMO to waste a few hours on. Anyone else in the same boat?
Nope, Rift cured me from my 10 year mmo addiction. Got bored at level 30, played to 50 and canceled. But i did not only cancel Rift, but all my mmo subs. Not playing any of these crap games anymore. This item prgression crap is so dull, it hurts.
Bought me a bicyle and play real world biking v1.0
That's what happens when a game releases with the exact same gameplay, features, flaws, and UI of a game that was boring and outdated 6 years ago when it released.
Playing Rift right now and not planning on stopping any time soon. Great game given what else is out there ((My opinion, take it or leave it)). I'd love to get me some AoC action but the servers connection sucks from asia so, not happening. Besides that, I do play some Dragron Nest on the side with a few friends and it's cool but nothing that will keep me interested for long I think.
Rift gives me everything I want from an mmo right now in a really nice looking package.

Hit lv 43 tonight.. Finnaly gettin decked out in some purple gear.. Almost 300 in mineing.. Got a nice purple weaponsmith plaque from the new event dailys.. Ran a few KB + FC runs, didn't get any good items but my guild mates did.. All and all i got a good 5 or 6 hrs of entertainment from Rift today
and im slowly learning how to tank.. my guild mates have been patient with me but i think by the time i hit 50 ill be able to know the basics of tanking raids.
Currently Playing: Rift + Starcraft II + Gears Of War 3 Beta
What you guys need is a good guild of friends to play with. If you play by yourself its gonna get boring be social interact with people chat in teamspeak. That is one thing most people who complain about any game do not have a good guild of friends they have played MMOs with for years.

This is possible because I leveled on my own mostly while my ex guild and their butt buddy group all leveled together 1 to 50. Did not get any help so as soon as I hit 46 I called it quits. Leveling solo is a challenge with how lousy the respawns are.

Yeah ill tell ya' i'd be bored out of my mind right now if it wasn't for my guild.. Not to mention i'am a tank so theres always group activities for me to partake in.. I'am just glad that i have a guild thats patient enough to somewhat train and teach me how to tank.. Once i hit 50 i'll be able to help them out in their raids which will be awsome.

Yep that's where I am too. Everyone in my little circle of friends bought the game played for a month.... now everyone has moved on. The problem is they did nothing more than 'borrow" ideas from other mmos... which is a good start. But they failed to improve on anything.
Crafting ..... lame (same formula, in terms of progression and items are superseded by pvp and pve raid grind gear)
economy.... lame (completely gear player centric, no innovation as far as using resources to support faction, guilds, etc)
combat.... lame (pvp is the same stun locks, goofy looking toons circling around each other, and eye poking flashy lights that obscure the pathetic animations)
PVE end game.... solo content isn't anything special... descent story arch, but who wants to level alts through that again... and again. The end game is dungeon instance crawl... over and over and over... and over. I didn't do those in wow, because initially they were 6 hours long... I can get the same experience at work.
PVP end game.... while faster than the 'crawl' it’s usually the FPS crowd.... lots of whining, yelling, arguing (I usually kill all chat).... if you join solo. Also if you join solo ... expect to loose more than you win. They shove premade groups/guilds against a random group. That gives you an idea how much thought went into the pvp. To Trion’s credit they seem to be doing a good job of bring balance to the ‘classes’.
the Soul system.... looked good on paper. But very quickly you will find that you must have specific 'builds' in order to be effective in the end game content. While it is nice to be able to 'switch' roles. IE... switch to 'off tank' to 'ranged dps' to 'off heal', to etc. The alternate roles are not so great that they work nearly as effective as the 'dedicated' tank, healer, or dps class.
unfortunately, this is state of pretty much all of the mmos out there. The only one that has caught my interest that is 'claiming' to do anything different is guild wars 2. But unfortunately for them, everyone makes that claim. So it remains to be seen whether they deliver. And frankly, it takes a week to get a feel if it will deliver. I remember a review of Star Trek online where the writer played a mission that involved doing the federation thing and negotiating using diplomacy. The writer went on in good faith and helped cryptic market that 'diplomacy missions' would be a 'big' part of the game. In the end that was the only mission that involved a diplomacy mission. And that is the problem. Largely, false claims and empty promises of updates that will deliver.
