It was a buggy, incomplete mess at launch. Now it's just mostly incomplete. Most of the major problems what everyone was complaining about have been fixed, but there are stil l plenty of issues to be worked on before the game is ready for a rebirth ala the PS3 (and hopefully 360) launch.
do you think those changes are going to be for the worst? Like changes aimed more at a WoW kind of game? If it is going into that direction i will pass. I don't hate all WoW features, but most of them i do
From what I've seen of changes they're going to make, and some they already have made, it seems they're taking a notable number of their cues from WoW-style MMOs going forward.
My fear is that it's going to end up being a FF theme shoe-horned into a typical MMO template.... which I have no interest in playing. But of course, mileage may vary.

Speaking of the WoW-style approach, what are your thoughts on the GoD changes coming to L2 later this year Mike? I've only read a few things and watched the video portraying the new Glad (or whatever class that was supposed to be) and i can't help but think it seems like their turning the game into Aion 2.0. I've got a huge soft spot for L2, so i can't say I'm excited about what they're planning to do to the game, both visually and gameplay-wise. The classes merging down to 8 doesn't sound particularly appealing either.
It's good to play, nice and relaxing I think. And the crafting is immense. Although when you spend 2 hours getting materials for a shield only for it to fail you rage hard. Like I did yesterday.
But yeah, considering you can get it for about £4 from zavvi.com, it's worth a try.
In XI, anyone could be anything but of course, extreme classes (Galka, taru) were at an advantage playing at the opposite end. I always kinda liked that personally.

Coming from ffxi lets just say its different and not as engaging as ffxi however im a true gamer so i give everything a benefit of the doubt. Having that said this game is good if you use a gamepad. I use an xbox controller and trust me it helps tremendously.

11 was the same way. 11 on PC was good, 11 on xbox was good, 11 on PC with gamepad > all.
I logged into a friend's account, with his permission!, a few months ago and realized I'd never once played it without a controller and had no idea how to.

Still, how much does race matter in 14? I hope it matters a lot, and does post-revamp.

I bet it'll kill the World of Warcraft.

It's pretty much in a solid alpha stage now. Things are looking great for a polished, fully functional release on PS3 sometime next year.
Have they improved repairing your gear ?
As i recall, it was a major hassle to repair gear after 1-2 hours of playing.

I guess we'll see what happens.

I have a question about 14?
Does race matter (atm)?
