Honestly I wish more games were this transparent about where they in developement. There have a been a few games in the past that were released in a state that isn't even fitting of a closed beta let alone an open beta phase (cough ffxiv). So for XL games to be so upfront about how things are is something I hope other developers use in the future. Even GW2 has about the same or less known about it than this game and it's supposed to be released this year. Granted these are two drastically different games from what we know at this point. I use GW2 as an example because besides AA it's the only other game I'm looking forward to.
No surprise. Sites over there threaten companies with a lack of coverage if they decide to place a NDA in their games. Wish sites over here were half as ballsy, because companies need websites to cover their games, not the other way around.
Kyleran: "Now there's the real trick, learning to accept and enjoy a game for what
it offers rather than pass on what might be a great playing experience
because it lacks a few features you prefer."
John Henry Newman: "A man would do nothing if he waited until he could do it so well that no one could find fault."
FreddyNoNose: "A good game needs no defense; a bad game has no defense." "Easily digested content is just as easily forgotten."
LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in
the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you
playing an MMORPG?"
I'm confused as to your point? The OP points out facts concerning NDA which means that the focus was not on playing the beta but the information that will be released by those who do. Get'cha head in the game
There will be those that don't even speak Korean playing CBT3 because they are invited by XLGames to participate. Those will be the most likely candidates to feed us up to date reviews, videos and pics. At least I hope they remember once they are in game.
XLGames is either brilliant or incredibly lucky. Obviously they would not put too much into advertising for NA/EU since the game wont be released in those regions for about a year. In fact NA does not even have a publisher yet. Oh, they are talking to at least one to be sure and in negotiations...
How would XLGames kill those two birds with one stone?
Have a great product. If one has seen the videos and read the interviews they know this is a good, quality product.
Release as much info leading up to CBT3 as possible to get a buzz going. They have done this with the help of fans who have waited for a game like this and fansites that are on the ball sending the info down the line.
Have no NDA to their CBT3 allowing an untold number of videos, screenshots and reviews. This will not only validate their game (see #1) but will also grow the hype surrounding it. Word of mouth and the interwebs will have done the marketing for them.
Marketing monies have been saved for development and negotiations with worldwide distributors will get AA the best company possible. Will AA be marketed in NA/EU? I would assume so but every dollar used for developing the better.

They recently signed their China publisher deal and got $60 million more... I'm sure money is no problem xD

A good sign b/c it means they are confident in the game.

yea, only that information is not yet final - info from xlgames.
So, they might put an NDA the last day before the CBT3.
But lets hope.

YES, now we can watch all the videos, screenshots, read reviews... that otherwise we couldn't because of NDA. I hope they don't change their mind.
