I have been playing this game for 3 days now, and as far as I can see there are only 3 ships, the starting one, the Tyi one, and the Genides one. This is rediculous for a space mmo to only have 3 different ships, ok you can change them a bit with upgrades.
But seriously only 3 ships?? This is the main thing that makes me want to quit.
Please inform me if im wrong and there are more.

It is worse: you have only one ship to choose from
At the beginning, it is the Sapiens escort shuttle. When you choose your faction after the prologue (Tyi or Genide), you are put into a fighter of that faction. Except for swapping out parts for better ones, you stay in that ship...
Hmm, good to know that I'm not missing out on anything by registering the key but not finishing the client install.
I do not play the game so I don't know for sure, but isn't the game in beta still?
It's released in Europe.
Always read the small print.
Wow...only THREE ships all in all for a space MMO?
Thats like cutting out on your usual [[ Tank-Healer-DPS ]] trinity and turning it into a low budget (( DPS with a sword-DPS with an axe-DPS with a hammer )) stooge combination.
I really hope this is just a temporary phase and not...a cost cutting measure (like its switch to f2p instead of p2p) or it could spell doom for what could be a decent space MMO.
The people playing this (myself included) are not so bothered really. The basic ship is fully customisable, any and all components mounted change the appearance and more importantly the behaviour of the ship.
You can put even different model wings at the same time, this resulting in one wing maybe longer and one bulkier, different engines, and they really look different when you see the ship from behind.
All weapons show up on you ship model. You want missiles mounted? No problem, you can look at the missile pod below the ship. Want is painted? Or maybe you wanna paint the wings individually?
That sounds bothersome to me. Are there any plans to introduce more ships?

I remember reading something about capital ships, controlled by multiple players (clan/guild/corp?). I don't know if they will actually do it, nor can I provide a link.. I recommend reading an FAQ on the homepage,it's more reliable than my memory.
Ok, but if only one ship are there different roles to fill? Like support/healer, DPS, tank etc or are everyone doing the same phew phew?

You are aware that this is not some fantasy game, right?
NOT FANTASY! SCI-FI!
DPS? Healer? WTH are you talking about, buddy?
I think your confused EVE is sci fi but it still basicly has dps, tanks, healers
I think some of you guys should take a step back from Tolkien. Really!
Best, visit the game's website. But if you're looking for elves piloting the ships, you will be dissapointed.
Well... since all the parts have "weight" stat, which usually translates into: less weight -> higher velocity, tighter cornering and squishier, VS more weight > tanky builds with shields but top speed and maneuverability suffers a lot
I lasted about 10 minutes with this game, i played Wing Commander 20 years ago and that was way better than this pos.
Aww really? That sucks. I had hopes that this game would compare.
Wing Commander 4 was the last good space battle game I ever played. Alot of people talk about Freelancer, but I thought it was a big let down compared to WC4.
forget dude everyone who played wing commander or freespace will never find another war space game like that again sad really
Those were great games, but I want people to make up their own mind on this game. I am having a blast playing it, and yes .... the first 10 minutes sucked .... first hour was borning. But tell me what NEW MMO ha da good tutoriul? They all will learn and get better.
I do not mind the one ship vs 1000 different ships. I m a current and loing standing EvE player and this game you have a different role to play. Flying with your other friends frigate to friagte getting into quick sirmishes and dog fights is quite a blast.
There doesn't seem to be the traditional classes, but IMO that would probably ruin the game. It's more dogfighting than RPG, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Unlike some free MMORPGs that just feel like... well, free MMORPGs, this feels like an actual game, with cutscenes and plenty of voice acting that isn't half-bad, and it's almost unheard of that a F2P MMO would have that. It's a good game, just give it a try.
That's pretty much all it is. It is a dogfighter simulation, in space. No depth, no variety. The people on the beta forums have been complaining for months about the lack of anything to do. You do the same missions over and over again, in the same ship... sorry, because your wings swoop down now instead of up doesn't replace the thrill of upgrading to a new ship. Well, let me clarify that. It may, for some. Here is a good way to think of Black Prophacy. This game is essentially an FPS game with space ships. You all start in the same model, you all have the same abilities and weapons. Now, there is a mild amount of customization, much like Call of Duty or some such game where you switch out your M-16 for an AK-47 or a flak jacket for camo BDUs.
There is a large number of players that never wanted deep character development or customization. They are more interested in getting in there and blowing things up. This game would appeal to them. It is almost an arcade game MMO. You plug in your quarter and whoosh you are behind the stick of a space fighter. PvP zones are completely open, complete with roaming gank squads popping all the new players like baloons and crafting is something you do while you aren't playing the game. Moding and crafting some items takes you 30+ minutes and here's the kicker. While you are doing that, you can't go back out and play the game. You have to wait until it is done. Special.
Meh, it is still in beta and the devs may figure this all out before launch, who knows? I can say that it is absolutely beautiful graphics wise. Spectacular effects and oh how I wish EvE was more a cockpit view optional game because honestly BP makes me feel more like I am in the action. For the 15 or so minutes I could stand playing it at a time.
Well it does not have to be traditional classes but I will get quickly bored if it is just phew phew with no support roles available which, from the sounds of it, seems to be the case.
